Bell costs $10/month to hook in the iPad and Rogers is near $30? I'm going to seriously hope that gets amended.

Are we sure about the Fido thing being + 3 years on Fido? Because Fido's contracts are usually 2 years in length.
Getting locked in for another 3 years is bad enough, but for 4 years?? Not sure if I want that, but switching to Rogers I lose per second billing, earlier evenings for free minutes, etc.

Probably. I moved from Rogers to Fido with a year left on my contract when the 3G came out, and they waived the ECF.
I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Not crazy about being locked in for 4 years...

Does Bell have any switching customer incentives, like Wind's $150 credit to switch?

This is what Fido's site says for the HUP checker:
Quote:

You may use your FidoDollars towards the purchase price Full conditions below, see in-store for details.

Lol, on the phone with Fido now, the agent says he has the two items up on his screen right now, one says it's a new 3 year agreement starting tomorrow, the other says it's a new 3 year agreement starting when the old agreement expires.
So he doesn't know, he's been given conflicting info.
He's trying to find out which is correct.

Alright here's what he said, he said at this moment the call center is being given instructions that the voice plan will extend your contract, and the data plan will be 3 years from tomorrow.
He said the conflicting wording is because the store locations may be given different instructions tomorrow, that they may be starting the new contracts tomorrow at the stores, BUT that the information isn't final and that the stores won't know for sure until tomorrow morning.
WTG guys.
So I asked about switching to Rogers, he said the only requirements are that the account has to be active for at least 15 days, that we have to port over the phone # and name (i.e you can't port a number over to a new person on Rogers), and you'll have the same plan on Rogers, and have to sign a new 3 year agreement.

Quick question to anybody that's ever waited in line for an apple product ... I'm buying my parents an iPad and tomorrow at lunch is my only available time to do it. Would there even be a point to trying or will the lines for the iPhone die down?

Bam! Now all I need to do is get them to price match that iPad tie-in on the 6BG plan that I already have.

Do you come close to your 6 BigaGyte cap?
$159 is a helluva deal. AT&T charged $199 if I am not mistaken (but on a 2year)?

Yeah, it's an awesome deal.
Not sure about that $25 to share my data with an iPad though. Mind you, I was just going to pay Telus for their $20/500MB plan anyway... so $5 more to share with my 6GB plan isn't that bad. It's just the $15 more than what Bell is charging that gets me.
As for the data itself, I don't think I've ever broken the 500MB threshold once. 6GB is a huge overkill, which just irks me even more that I can't share it with another device.

Go to the homepage and click on the huge iPhone in the middle of the screen. Then on the next page, click the upgrade eligibility checker link in the bottom left.
...or just click on the link in the post above yours.

Call rogers retentions tomorrow and complain, they may give you a 10$ credit for the iPad. You'd pay just the grrf. Mention bell and cancel in one sentence and they become competitive
After hassling with retentions this will be my plan as of tomorrow.
Mentioning bell and wind every other sentence.
500 anytime
Unlimited evening weekends 5pm
Unlimited incoming
1000 long distance
Unlimited network calling
Caller Id name display
Enhanced voicemail
Unlimited SMS and mms
6gb data
Call forward etc
For 55$+ gov fee+ tax.

That's an amazing deal, I pay more for a lot less.
If I could save $20 a month on my bill, let's see..
Assume a 3 year contract, that's $720!
So lets say I buy the phone cash tomorrow with no contract for $749..
Then when my contract is up I get a decent deal through retentions and save $20 a month, sign a new contract and buy an new iPhone for $269.
I then sell the unlocked phone for $500.
So 500 + 720 - 269 - 749 = $202 ahead at the end.
If I only save $5 a month in retentions I'm behind $22
If there's a new iPhone model out then I keep the new one.
Am I missing anything? Think my wife will believe me when I say I can save $200 by spending $800 now?

I guess I'm eligible for an upgrade, plus I plan to use my FIDO dollars. A nice savings. 32GB for less than 200 bucks.
