Default Is my chicken bad?

I bought fresh marinated chicken breasts and they have been sitting in the refrigerator since Sunday. Would you still cook them up? I know the FDA says 1-2 days but I don't want to waste them.

I think they'd be fine in my books.

Personally, I would throw them out by this point. But, then, I'm a freak when it comes to salmonella. If it were beef, you might be able to push it. . . . It also depends on how cold your fridge is, but if I were you, I'd rather not take the chance.

500 degrees for an hour will kill anything living on them

I'd say no. Even if they were safe to eat, I do not think they would have a good taste/texture after that long.

You read the question wrong. He is asking if he should cook them and eat them; not that sick thing you are thinking of.

Or the peace of mind... you'd probably want to overcook this chicken too, but who likes dry chicken.

I think the proper time is 2-3 days

You don't know when they were fresh and sometimes they will marinate the older looking meats...

Your health is not worth it, salmonella will kick your ass.

Probably won't be the best tasting you ever had but maybe try to chop them up and throw them on skewers with some veggies. They might not be as bad cooked that way.

Is it green? Does it make you want to vomit when you smell it? If not then it's fine.

Two days in the original wrapping is generally considered the maximum.....you're talking about four. And check the date on the package.....good chance it wasn't packaged the day you bought it.

Two important phrases for all aspiring chefs...

1. If in doubt, throw it out.
2. Better thrown out than thrown up.

I wouldn't, but then again I'm a freak when it comes to expiry dates. I won't eat it if it is within 3 days of the expiry date.

If you knew it was fresh on Sunday and kept cold, I would, but it probably wasn't fresh on Sunday.

I am going to toss them, I don't feel like throwing up for the next few days. Thanks all!
