Default That's alot of dope!

http://newsroom.calgary.ca/pr/calgar...spx?ncid=17193

Is it just me? Or does it not surprise anybody that they busted this house? The neighbours would have to have their heads REALLY high up their bums not to notice a grow op with that many plants.

I should be surprised that it was in Copperfield, but I guess house prices are pretty cheap down there.

Well someone called it in 8 weeks ago so I'm sure the neighbours figured it out.

I use to live in Copperfield and the house 2 doors down from mine was a grow op. I happened to be home that day and watched the SWAT team storm the house from my bonus room. It was pretty cool too see them smash in the front door and storm the house with their fully automatic machine guns.

Must have been some small plants, or a really big house.

$ 2.7 million worth... must have been some big ass plants and a warehouse.

Why do cops exaggerate so much ?

Someone I knew had the SWAT team raid their house... but it turns out their hobby was growning irises.

And the cops never had to pay for the damages they did to the house. And now their neighbours look at them funny.

Trashing houses to grow it shouldn't be legal, especially since the majority are rental houses that don't even belong to growers.

And bottom line, right now its not legal in those quantities.

Cause that's exactly what happens with other legal drugs such as tobacco and booze....

If marijuana ever gets legalized expect the price to increase ten fold.

What a good time to have registered my place as CPS approved evidence storage!

You can't be serious...

And $2.7m is just a made up number that is over 1300lbs of weed sold at $2,000/lb. It must be a pretty massive house to be producing 1300lbs lol

I am all for these drug busts and take a strong stance towards drugs such as marijuana. This is why I destroy it with fire one bud at a time.

So they can try to scare the uninformed into justifying the war on drugs.

Legalization of marijuana would result in controls, taxes, and corporate market shares. All would lead to a substantial increase in price. 10x is an exaggeration, but it would get a looooot more expensive if it was ever legal. Take a look at what has happened to cigarette and booze prices for a measure.

As for the estimates. The problem with the estimates has more to do with the return than the amounts. A healthy marjijuana plant can probably grow a 1 lb/ year pretty easily. The problem is they always use "street value" when measuring the value of drugs. The people moving bulk amounts are not going to stand on the corner with dime bags. They are moving volume so probably getting less than $1,000.00 per pound.

Only if you weren't allowed to grow it (ie. controls you mention).

There was also that fire in North CGY earlier this year because of a grow op. I wish Canada would just legalize and regulate marijuana already. If it was grown in regulated and specified facilities fires would not happen.

Stop spending millions to thwart marijuana, and start making millions by taxing it! Marijuana has zero negative health implications when smoked through a vapourizer or consumed orally. Why the hell are we fighting it so staunchly?
