If you log into the Rogers website, and click on the Hardware tab (where you go to check for upgrade eligibility)... Watch the links that show up in the middle while it's loading. If you're fast enough you can see an "Upgrade My iPhone" link show up and then disappear. If you're even faster, you can actually click on it and get a "Your hardware upgrade cannot be completed at this time" message.

Trvial, useless... But still fun.

I called Rogers yesterday to see if I'd be able to upgrade. I was told yes but he wouldn't give me a price and told me I should call back next week when they have a better idea of stock availability...that's not what I want to hear.

I'll like all the fake scarcity mystery angle they're using this time. I'll get one, but don't care if I'm the first, or 5 millionth. My 3G is annoying with out the homebutton working, but it's livable for a couple of weeks.

i4 actually reminds me of the Christmas tickle me elmo fiasco. There never was a shortage of them, it was all smoke and mirrors.

What do you guys figure my current 32GB 3Gs will be worth on kijiji if I do the upgrade to the new phone tomorrow?

It is basically brand new (14 days old) as Apple just replaced my old 3Gs on warranty two weeks ago for a battery-draining issue.

TIA!

According to Mac2Sell:

But I would imagine you could get closer to $400 for it.

Keep in mind that your replacement iPhone is a refurb.

According to the Apple Genius or whatever, it is a brand new, non-refurbished phone. Is there a way to confirm that? He was very specific in assuring me it was not a refurb.

Seeing how I bought my BB in November and it's wonderful 3 year contract, I'd imagine I won't be getting any discount on the hardware....

Wondering if it's worth lining up at the Apple Store to get an unlocked one, I should then be able to go into Bell and have them swap phones/plans theoretically no?

I don't remember, but it definitely wasn't in one of the really nice boxes iPhones originally come in. It was in a box, though. Just sort of a bare bones one.

That says my 3G is worth 200 bucks. I wouldn't pay a penny for it, but damn straight I'm going to try and sell it now.

Wow... No wonder they waited until the day before launch. No time for people to revolt. $250 off... yeesh.

Are there any special offers for existing Rogers customers?
Yes. The easiest way to check your hardware upgrade eligibility is to check here

Customers who have completed a 2 or 3-year term
Rogers standard hardware upgrade program enables customers with any mobile device who have completed a 2 or 3-year term to upgrade to an iPhone 4 at $159 for the 16GB or $269 for 32GB, each with a 3 year term voice and data plan (customers can always refer to rogers.com or in store for promotional offers before current term expiry). Rogers customers who activated or upgraded to iPhone on a term contract on or before December 31, 2008 are also eligible for this pricing. See Legal Disclaimer below or in-store for full details and conditions.

iPhone customers who entered a term on or before June 7, 2010 ( the day Apple announced iPhone 4 at the Worldwide Developers conference) and who do not qualify for the above offer
iPhone customers who entered a term on or before June 7, 2010, and who do not qualify for the above offer are eligible to upgrade to an iPhone 4 at $399 for the 16GB or $499 for 32GB, each with a 3 year term voice and data plan. See Legal Disclaimer below or in-store for full details and conditions.

Customers who entered a term after June 7, 2010
Rogers customers have the flexibility to upgrade to any new device at any time at the device-only price (no term). The no term price is $649 for the 16GB iPhone 4 and $749 for the 32GB iPhone 4. See Legal Disclaimer below or in-store for full details and conditions.

The little calculator thing they have doesn't seem right.

My GF is using my old 2G phone, and she got it hooked up in April of 2009, so she added data to her plan and some of the iPhone features. But it says that she has to pay full price for the phones?!

Return of special smartphone $30/6 GB plan
Effective July 30, and as a limited time promotional offer for smartphone customers who activate on a three-year contract, Rogers is offering 6GB of data for $30. This data plan can be added to any in-market voice plan before September 30, 2010.

Share with your family
Now that you’ve upgraded to iPhone 4, what do you do with your 3GS? Pass it on through our Family Share Plans and share minutes, messaging and data. Starting August 4, add additional voice and data lines for just $25 per month (plus Government Regulatory Recovery Fee) on a three-year term for up to five people!

*New* smartphone and iPad sharing plans
You’ve told us you love our in-market iPad plans and the ease of activation on Rogers – but some of you have asked for device sharing and we’ve listened. Starting July 30, and for a limited time until Sept. 30, customers on a 6 GB plan will be able to share data between iPhones and iPads for an extra $20 (plus Government Regulatory Recovery Fee). For details, visit a Rogers retail location.
Wtf is that? That's going to be an extra $30 by the time everything is added up.

Just goes to show how far Rogers has their heads up their colons. At $10 per month (all-in) i would have bought the 3g version iPad. At $30 to use my 6gb bucket it is just a rip off and basically what I would cost to get access on its own. Bah.
