If you are going to phone in on Friday, I would suggest calling them tonight or tomorrow just to make sure you're able to call them on Friday. We all know how information can change depending on the CSR you talk to, and I'll feel bad enough if I miss out on getting on because of the info I received... I'd feel worse if I caused someone else the same problem.

Calling in to do a HUP sounds a lot nicer than standing in line, but doesn't really scratch the instant gratification itch.. Hm, guess I'll try calling Fido tomorrow.

Good point. I probably should confirm the 'if your last HUP was before June 7th you can upgrade to the iPhone 4' thing too anyway. I had some other things to ask them, if only I could remember it all...
Kinda agree with photon though, I like the idea of instant gratification. We'll see what happens =P

Hmmmm I wonder how well the unlocked phones will sell... I might try and pass by Market Mall sometime in the afternoon. Could be ambitious. Hopefully if I order it online it doesn't take 3 weeks or something crazy.
It's not that I have to "have it" for launch day, but me yelling into a mic at 20% sensitivity on my beat up BB so people can hear me is getting a little long in the tooth....

Ha, yeah I dig the insta-grat stuff too. I just can't stand lining up for stuff like this. I always get stuck near some group of people that make me want to punch myself in the face until I pass out.
If I had some decent company to pass the time with, then it wouldn't be bad. Any of my friends that would be crazy enough to stand in line with me are all stuck in their offices on Friday morning though.

Well this time I'll have Internet access with my phone, I'll just bring a chair and we're good to go.
Only problem is I drop my kid off at camp at 9am, so the wife might have to assist and that might be the sticky part

Good point. Maybe I'll bring a chair and my laptop and do some homework for 2 hours while I wait...
(Although I'm sure I'm just going to call in again. I've been burned too many times by greaseball phone dealers refusing to HUP for no commission, and I really don't want to camp outside the Apple store. That place will be insane.)

Yeah, my old Samsung from like 2007 and I are just about done. It loves to randomly restart itself when I want to make a call or answer a call. I want this iPhone before it sells out for like a month, too.
I MAY wait (like Friday afternoon after work, not early morning) if the line is small/nonexistent and if I can't do it over the phone. But no way I'm going first thing in the morning, I have to work and the line will be too big anyways.

Somewhat unrelated but the Rogers iPhone app is pretty slick. It shows phone/data/messages usage for the last month and your bill. Works pretty good. For the record I have used 681mb of data so far this month.

Has it improved from first launch? It was complete crap at updating when it first came out.

Just called them too, no new info and they said they won't have any info until the 30th. What a stupid way to do things.

I hit 5.4 GB after spending a bunch of time in BC tethering. It's incredibly gratifying.

Where ever you go, go early. Doesn't sound like stores will have a lot of stock (at least not right away). Some don't even seem to know when their stock is even coming.
So it appears that my Apple Store is opening at 7 AM. Sounds like I could get in before I start work at 9:30, right? I dunno.... Apple has a lot of fanboys/girls and I hate the idea of super long lines. And I really value my sleep. Think I'll stick with the afternoon attempt instead.
