As much asI hate seeing summer leave I love the NFL as my favorite viewing sporting event, with hockey a close second.

Can't wait for the real games to begin only 2 months away! Should be a great year in the AFC East.

Here's to some more touches for Lex Hilliard, a perfect season for Dan Carpenter and a huge year for Brandon Marshall.

That would be nice, but deep down inside I don't care who touches the ball as long as we destroy the stupid Jets with Taylor and the Pats. Thinking hard about going to Miami for the Jets game just to boo Taylor!!!!!!!

Wow...one month and I can get rid of this goofy avatar of mine. I'm still pretty crushed about whats happened to my man JaMarcus. I'm tempted to go to a Taylor Hall avy and hope that number one pick has a similar career path. Nice kid...but he's an Oiler and now I hate him.

Worst team in the league this year. The Buffalo Bills. No QB, No OL. Poor CJ Spiller. How would you feel to be a Bills fan? With Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm "battling" for the starting position. How do you put a positive spin on that?

I love it. Good to see some harsh penalties being handed out.

And he earned every bit of it. the guy is a terrific football player but is an absolute idiot off the field.

Gonna hurt the Pack a bit, but that D-Line may be the deepest in the NFL as far as 3-4 schemes go, so although they will miss his run stopping ability it will be lessened by the depth of the line.

Also reports are that Bradford is going to receive a guarenteed 45-50 million dollars when he signs his deal with the Rams.

Absolutely assinine. If the NFL owners do go through with a lockout, this HAS to be the primary issue to get resolved. When you are giving that much money to guys who have never stepped on an NFL field as players, that meas guys that have earned it are going to get less. A completely backwards situation.

Really interesting interview this morning with DeMaurice Smith the NFLPA grand poobah. (on Mike and Mike ESPN Radio..will be available to listen at some point today)

truly a no-holding-back guy when speaking and he fully said he is starting to believe the owners are in collusion with one another in regards to signing 1st and 2nd round draft picks from the most recent draft.

He may have a very valid point. Not a single 1st rd guy has signed, and if i am reading correctly niether has a 2nd rd guy, and training camps open up this Friday. That is awfully damning evidence againt the league IMO. Especially when you consider that this is an uncapped year and teams are free to spend as they see fit. He also mentioned a real lack of free agency movement, which is another indicator that GM's/owners are playing off the same page.

I really never thought that the NFL would ever allow a lockout to happen, but it appears that is exactly where this thing is headed.

This from an interview he gave yesterday...

Quote:
"Although we continue to talk and I'm still hopeful that we get a deal done, (the owners) remain firm on a $1 billion giveback and the only thing we have heard from them since April in a constructive way is that they want the players to play two extra regular-season games. ... The National Football League over the last two years has done nothing but prepare for this lockout. This is not a work stoppage. This is a lockout."

I just find it strange that the owners as a group would be so obvious about such a ploy which can be construed as collusion. They can't be THAT dumb.

And on another note, who saw this coming?

There is actually one 2nd round pick that has been signed.

Yes, it's unusual, but most teams and players and agents wait for the player ahead and behind him to sign, so that they know they are getting a fair deal. Even Gerald McCoy has come out and said publicly that he will sign his contract once Bradford signs on the dotted line.

It is very strange that so few players have been signed, but once the first domino drops, I think there will be a flurry of signings.

The deal is for five years and $11.8 million, with $8.3 million guaranteed, according to a source. The wide receiver received $2.5 million to sign and will earn a base salary of $320,000 this year. He also has bonuses tied in to playing time.

I am pretty surprised Dez Bryant is the first 1st round pick signed. I would have put money on him pulling a Crabtree (Thought he should have been the first WR taken, thought he was a top 5 pick, etc.).

I might have found my new favorite player.
