By Steamer's I meant Stayner's. It's right on the water, across from Theodore Tug Boat. Although there really is no view of the water from most seats.

I'd also add Ryan Duffy's to your list of eating establishments.

I think they tore that down, and built a new one. That was the plan a couple of years ago.

I was kidding, but yeah, you're right it did get torn down. I think they moved down the street. I haven't been to the new one yet, but if it's anything like the old one, I'm sure it's the same old lovable dive!

new brunswick:

*pt du chene wharf - nice wharf overlooking shediac bay.
*hopewell rocks - plan it for low tide!
*fundy national park - a few nice vantage points, especially along a few coastal trails.
*cape enrage - small cape on the way to alma. great views of the bay of fundy.
*mt carleton - about 1.5 hr hike to the summit on an easy trail. the view is awesome from the maritimes highest peak. (close to arthurette)
*hartland - worlds longest covered bridge over the st john river.
*reversing falls - saint john
*odell park - beautiful park and gardens (fredericton)
*bouctouche sand dunes - 23km long sand dune jutting out into the ocean.
*pays de la sagouine - historical acadian park in the middle of bouctouche bay.

seriously, look these places up and see for yourself. some of them are awesome for what you are looking to do.....good luck!

Seriously, the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove.

Public Gardens are beautiful and will be in full bloom around Labour Day

Point Pleasant Park is nice, and lots of privacy

As for restaurants:
- Chives is on Barrington St
- Bish is on the waterfront
- Argyle is on well, Argyle
- Seven is on Market (I think, it's down from Pizza Corner)

Lots of great places, as for Moncton there isn't a whole lot. Magnetic Hill would be kinda cool with the cheese factor (there's not a whole lot in New Brunswick).

If you have some ideas and want to see how they'll mesh with Halifax/New Brunswick send me a PM. I've lived in Halifax and going to school in Fredericton so I'm fairly familiar with where ever you're going

Word of advice. Don't plan out the whole day with hotels/cars/restaurants, and then get into a huge argument in the morning about some stupid thing that doesn't matter anyway, so she's giving you the cold treatment for the rest of the day because she has no clue what's coming up. Cause that's Table 5 way.

Ha - I've considered that. Part of me wants to carry the ring around and wait for the right moment and setting, and part of me wants to plan it out without her knowledge so it becomes this great and memorable day of surprise after surprise.

Great suggestion! My wife actually does like the Midtown but I didn't propose there. My buddy and I used to be regular enough customers that the wait staff would just pour our draft and meet us at the table with it as we came in. They would also just confirm our food order as they already knew what we wanted (steak and fries).

Yes, they "merged" with Boomers (across from the Prince George Hotel) and it's the Midtown during the day and Boomers (DJ, dancing etc) during the night.


Yes it does, no more walking through the kitchen to reach the facilities for the ladies. That was part of the old Midtown's charm, it used to be a Men's only club and they never built a woman's washroom. Once women were allowed in (70's???) they had to fit one in wherever they could - "right through the kitchen" was born.

My parents met at the Midtown... classssssy! They used to bring my sister and I there a lot as kids, I still remember the first time I ever went. Last summer, before the old location closed down, I went back and got my picture taken with the owners and gave it to my dad... it was a very proud day for him, haha.
