I have loosely followed this case over the years. At this Im not sure if I think Vader is the right guy or not.
The RCMP bungled certain aspects of this case early on including not immediately following up leads of the deceased couple's SUV being spotted being driven in BC.
I am not a cop hater so thats not my angle on this. You don't have to dig deep to see a lot of bad work by the RCMP in BC and Alberta over the past decade. Is it possible they have a hardon for Vader for some reason other than the evidence we've seen? I don't know.
Vader was kept in jail for four years while the nine fire arm and drugs charges unrelated to the murder made their way through court. He was found not guilty on all nine. Is the RCMP overzealous with this guy?
Vader does seem like a loose cannon. His own father has come and made comments to that effect. One thing that doesn't make sense is if he did kill them, then it was likely a crime of opportunity rather than being premeditated where he chose them and stalked them. Its likely he saw them at the gas station for the first time and decided to rob them. It seems strange then that there was no physical evidence left anywhere and that Vader couldn't be tied conclusively in any way to the crime. It seems odd that this loose cannon that may have snapped and killed them if they fought back or said something he didn't like was then able to dispose of the bodies and all evidence, burn the RV and SUV, and not leave anything behind.
I have no doubt Vader is a bad guy who has done bad things but Im not convinced he committed this murder.
