Yes, and the RCMP must have felt there was no reason to identify that distracted driving was a factor.
Still, they said "factor", not cause.

You could go on but the RCMP say:
Quote:
distracted driving is believed to be a factor in the rollover.
|
I kinda believe them.

Why did any of them witness what happened?
Just because that seems the most likely cause at this point doesnt mean that was the cause.
Im not saying it wasnt the cause, but im going to wait until the "official story" comes out before jumping to any conclusions.

I'm gonna give the RCMP the benefit of the doubt in a fatality collision and investigation that they interview the other people in the vehicle....and they did witness it...they were part of it?

So you think the RCMP just randomly made that distracted bit up? C'mon.

They said distracted driving is believed to be a factor.
They didnt confirm it was a factor and they didnt confirm it as being the only factor.

That's the public feeling now - there was a time when it wasn't. Much like drinking and driving. Both still happen though.
As for the "distracted driver" part, cell phone call perhaps? Here's to hoping at some point holding a cell phone and driving are looked at the same way as the above.

So the cops said they 'believe' he was distracted just on a gut feeling?
I bet it has nothing to do with the 4 other witnesses who happened to be in the car

Why argue these things now? For this young person their life has ended, and the four others have had their lives change forever. The hows and whys will not bring back the deceased.
It is simply tragic and unfortunately these kinds of accidents happen far too often. I have had a young relative die after they were drinking and speeding and crashed. Did they make a mistake? Yes. Was it stupid? Yes. The end result is that someone I cared about is gone, and nothing can bring them back. Those who are left behind have to cope and learn from their mistakes and share their mistakes with others so that it hopefully is not repeated.
Unfortunately they are, and it is always heartbreaking to see this happen again and again. It is just plain sad.

Though for the majority of the population who does not know the people involved, the hows and whys can be used as an effective tool to prevent further tragedies from happening.

I realize that, and obviously there is a place for that. I was just focusing that part of those here who are basically calling him stupid. At the end of the day, it isn't going to help his family or anyone else because this person is gone.

Clearly you've never been a teen driver with a bunch of friends in the car. When I think back I how hard it was to keep my concentration at that age with a packed car full of friends....the loud music, the constant talking and yelling, the need to act big and drive fast.....all combined with sheer inexperience, I'm surprised we don't see more of this.
Chances are this kid was like anybody here. Most of us are complete moron drivers at that age.

Totally agree. Looking back at all the stupid crap I did as a young driver, I should've been dead at least 5 times before I reached 20. Small miracle this doesn't happen more often.
Thoughts go out to all loved ones in this situation.

I used my seat belt to open my beer in those days
If people would only realize that driving is the most dangerous thing they do, and treat it as such.
Driving is a weird thing, everyone thinks they are a good driver, especially young inexperienced drivers.

Growing up with having to buckle up, I can honestly say I feel very unconfortable without a seatbelt on. Even driving a block from my mailbox to my house feels weird if I don't buckle up. I don't know how people drive without one. Taking even a small turn without a seatbelt makes me feel like I'm sliding to one side.

My cousin in Slovakia goes out of her way not to use a seatbelt. They actually sell seatbelt buckles without the strap over there so you can click it in so the car won't beep at you. Combined with the fact the she (and half the country) drive like reckless morons, it's about the dumbest things I've ever seen anyone do.
Is a seatbelt really that uncomfortable?
