Sweet Tooth - Ice Cream place at Elbow & Southland
We used to go there alot during the summer. I remember they had a wall of pictures of all the special sundaes they served. There was one that fed like 10 people or something. I always wanted to order that but never got the chance.

Speaking of ice cream DQ used to have a lot of different items: there was their failed experiment into hard ice cream but also things like the "Parfait", some sort of pecan thingy and another one that had a fudge sundae on one side and a caramel on the other-it was called the "Double ___ ".

Get the munchies and go to 7-11 and get a med. coke slurpee and a super ham and cheese for 1.49.

Even though it was a dive, I miss the Drive-In Theater a lot. Plenty of great times.
I also miss the Calgary Cannons. AAA Baseball here in Calgary, ticket cost $5. Seriously, I got to see Danny Tartabull, Alex Rodriguez, Bret Boone, Danny Bautista.....and those were just the hometown heroes.
Overall - I just miss being the spirit Calgary used to have when it was 500-700,000 people strong. Trust me, the mood of this city has been waaaaaaay different for about 15 years.

I grew up in Kensington, and I miss the North Hill mall movie theatre and bowling alleys. The last movie I got to watch at theatre before it closed in 1997 (1998?) was the re-made Star Wars films, and my friend's hot sister with the nice set of jugs worked there and gave us free popcorn. As for the bowling alleys, probably about the most classic set of lanes you could get in Calgary - Fairview Bowling I believe it was called. Ah, good times.I also miss the McDonald's on 4th street and 20th ave. NW had the big Golden arches, akin to the 50's style era. Miss that place too.

Great thread. I grew up in West Hillhurst so these are the things I miss....
- The 7-11 on 14th street and Kensington
- The days when you could take your BMX bike to Prince's Island Park and jump the 3 big hills. There are trees blocking the path now.
- Bowview pool had great beach volleyball
- Movie theaters at Northland Mall
- The DQ on Kensington Road (just past the legion)
- House of Video
- Bullpoop corner at 1am by Deerfoot Mall
- Sports at 11 or 11:30 with the Mikes
- AM106's top 10 @ 10 when I was going to bed
So many memories.....
