Well if IB curves and the top student gets a 100 that's not really that impressive.
All this confusion about the top student getting 100% should be discussed... when I made that post, I should've said that it was up to the teacher's discretion to curve the marks with one student getting 100. Nevertheless, they still do curve the marks.

I thought this thread would be about an article on The Onion.

Well. You're using the term 'discussion' pretty loosely I think.

Personally, I don't think there is any amount of studying you could do that would get you 100% in 8 courses unless you weren't naturally quite brilliant to begin with. All her extra studying did was likely take her from a 95% to a 100%.

I did very little studying and managed to coast through high school, I worked harder at university though (and it was an adjustment as I was used to having everything come easy to me), even with the harder work I pulled in university I figure I still did considerably less than others that finished in the grad class where I did. In my experience, studying will only get you so far. If you aren't naturally bright, studying can only get you to a certain point, and you won't get past that point. I had a friend who would study all day every day in University, and the most he could get was a B. He worked his ass off, but if he hadn't off he likely would have flunked out.

Really? I come across it all the time (every day) in the financial/engineering/oil & gas world.

Oh, and watching the real estate daily numbers slowly deflate as well.

I bet that she spent 3 days studying before losing her virginity to her boyfriend and fellow chess club/debating club/math club alumni Barry "Swirly" Blaskovich.

The only real world application for me is my "Golden Tee parabola"

As I start drinking, I get progressively better. Then at around 3 pints I hit the peak of my parabola, and it's all downhill from there.

Present Value was the one I thought was ridiculous, but now I use it on a daily basis.

I was thinking the same thing - can some one just sign a free agent, or make a trade, so we can break the summer monotony?

Maybe it's because I used the max characters for the title of this thread.

Because Lakehead or Brock were too far away.
