There's no doubt that marching band kids are super nerds, but I have no doubt as to their talent and work ethic.

We just had our customer Stampede party. We thought the weather would keep people away, but the lure of free food and booze can overcome any obstacle. Some people came from another vendor party to ours, and were heading straight to another one right after. Fun!

Damnit, I wish I was allowed out of the office during Stampede... I have no Stampede parties that I'm allowed to go to, and if I did, I'd have to use banked or vacation time to to do so.

The Rangeland derby/Grandstand show is cancelled tonight due to the heavy rain. First time in the history of Stampede!

61,000 people went to the stampede today compared to 104,000 last year. That's not too bad considering it was raining all day.

There's a place in Weadickville which sells beer flavored ice cream. I tried it, wasn't too bad. It's still sweet and the beer taste was not as strong as I thought it would be.

The Michael Jackson dolls cracked me up. I believe they had Obama ones last year...

Right, but what are you comparing? Band Marching and spelling bee's [something]. You didn't finish your sentence.

I think he was saying that while competition can be very intense, neither should be considered actual sports.

So as we don't belabour the point, frinkprof has chosen a passive-aggressive way to point out that North East Goon has incorrectly placed an apostrophe in "bees" whereas one is not necessary for pluralization.

Moving on...

Just throwing this out there - why is the Stampede set in stone for 10 days? Why not make it 14 days (or more)?

^I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the attractions (rides, rodeo participants, animals, etc.) have other fairs and rodeos to be at immediately before and immediately after the Stampede.

Wouldn't it screw up the rotation of all the carnival equipment? Other than the rodeo the Stampede is hardly unique. Every city in Canada has some sort of summer fair and I imagine all the equipment and carnies need to move on.

I think it'd be more likely to go 17 days then 14. The money makers are the weekends so if they're going to extend it, they'll extend it for another weekend IMO

10 days prevents alcohol poisoning for downtown workers.
