Not to mention, often High School success doesnt translate well to very much else.

She'll be a great engineer some day when she designs a bridge or an overpass or something that gets named after the stoned, stupid kid from High School that became a politician.

I knew a girl in HS who was uber book smart, but absolutely dense when it came to street smarts.

She discovered partying and fun two years after highschool, subsequently went overboard, crashed her car through a bus shelter and into a cop car when hammered at 10:30 am.

But wow was she good at math and science.

From reading the article, it sounds like she is fairly well rounded (i.e. volunteer and work experience). However, there's more to learning than having your nose in a textbook from 4:00 to 10:00 every night. I also fail to see how this has resulted in getting "paid off big time" -- does she get a special scholarship? Or just a bunch of HS grades that will be meaningless by the time she graduates from University?

If I studied that much in high school I'd like to think I'd get 100% in every subject as well... I guess a lot of us could say that though.

I'm sure she has plenty. Someone who has the intelligence to do what she has, and also gets out there volunteering and other things is smart enough to figure out social skills.
A university education will only add to that too.

I would kill to have that kind of work ethic. True, high school means very little in the whole scheme of things, but if this is indicative of how hard she'll work in her career than I don't see a lot of downside. Perhaps she's neglected her social skills and won't do well in group settings ... who cares? Every day I see people who have poor social skills and are dumber than a minute steak.

I honestly don't think I can study that much on high school subjects. I mean, at what point does the subject start getting repetitive?
