the NHL is so mickey mouse.
Comparing Kovalchuk and LeBron isn't even close. He could only be compared to Crosby or Ovechkin. But the NHL doesn't have as huge of a base in the States as the NBA so it still wouldn't fly on ESPN. Maybe in Canada if they were coming to a Canadian team.

Hope they don't win a title within two years. We'll see what happens then.

Maybe someone here can share a little love with our non-nhl Clevelanders by telling them the story of Kariya and Selanne to the Avs.

True fact...when this news leaked last night and into this morning, the Miami Heat ended up selling out their season ticket packages by noon today....only sparse singles left for next year.

Last week when it was "reported" he was going to Chicago, they sold 1,500 season tickets over 2 days before that rumor was quashed.

The guy is the single biggest marketing machine in sports now after Tigers foibles.

As for ESPN and their coverage....they have so much money invested in the NBA and by association with Lebron, I am not surprised at the coverage. As completely annoying and mind-numbing as it has been and will be for yet another two weeks, I understand why its happening.

No one, and I mean no one, covers the NFL better IMO and that includes the NFL network.

As nice as that would be it is not very realistic. I have a feeling they will be dominant.

Apparently you do I'm still shook from LeBron's decision. I'm a huge LeBron fan and Miami was my 4th choice so I'm just comprehending everything right now. Just reading everything for as is with my sarcasm detector off.. my bad.

Gretzky sold more tickets when he went to the Kings, and converted people who had no knowledge of hockey into season ticket holders. I think people in Miami or Chicago know a few things about basketball.

FanIn80 hates it when people talk in the 3rd person. FanIn80 thinks is really just a deflection mechanism and a sign that FanIn80 is uncomfortable with what FanIn80 is currently discussing.

My cousin knows Iggy pretty well. I'll see if I can get him to ask Iggy to wear Nystrom's old jersey for opening night, get him to skate to Kipper's crease, and throw up that excess snow into the air for you. hehe

I think they're going to have to count on a pretty large number of guys taking heavy discounts to play with those three to do well in the next 2 years. Bosh isn't as bad with injuries as Greg Oden but he's had quite a few injuries in the past few years. LeBron has been hurt a fair bit lately too. All three of them - while they aren't OLD by any stretch of the imagination, are getting there by NBA standards. There's going to be some time - guaranteed - next year where one of those three are out for an extended stretch. Who will play for them then?
