Default Stampede Parade

I am planning on heading down tomorrow, against my better judgment, to the parade. We are thinking of going down around 8 (an hour early) and are wondering where the best spots for watching it are? Obviously I don't expect to be sitting front row, but I would rather not watch the back of people heads either.

I would prefer to be on 6th as we want to go rafting in the afternoon.

I am actually a bit excited because it has probably been 10 years since I have seen this thing live, but I know I am going to hate the crowds.

Do you have kids or are you bringing any?

Flask it. You'll be glad you did.

These two lines don't add up. If you hate crowds, go around 7 to find a place a little bit away from the crowds. I haven't been for about 5 years, but we went at 7 and found a good spot, and by 8:00 we were watching the people who were just arriving trying to find a spot that wasn't a wall of people.

I haven't been to a Stampede parade since late '70s.
Has it changed much or is it same old same old?

Jesus Christ, how old are you? I can tell you what the parade was like in the late 90's, but that's about it.

Approximately two-thousand and ten years, seven months, and eight and a half days old.

The Stampede Band actually sounds good now.

Thanks for some of the suggestions... I will be baileys and coffee'ing it in the morning and will probably bring along a flask for later...

I can't imagine the wifey will want to get there too much earlier than 8. I am up early every day and getting up earlier for a parade is a tough pill to swallow on my day off.

Anyone got a favorite intersection or spot to see this thing from?
