In a significant step toward an AIDS vaccine, U.S. government scientists have discovered three powerful antibodies, the strongest of which neutralizes 91% of HIV strains, more than any AIDS antibody yet discovered.

If used correctly and without breakage, condoms protect against all strains of the HIV virus. Accidents happen, however.

Well, that's what I mean about breakages or slippages. As well, I think STDs that can pass through the skin like chlamidya aren't prevented by condoms.
