OH THAT Ballon D'OR! I wasn't thinking that far ahead. I'd have to agree, can't think of anyone else.

This is the thing with a team like Netherlands with 4 or 5 guys who can turn the game in an instant. They can play badly for a stretch and then hammer home a couple goals in a minute.

I hear this a lot, but just because people keep repeating it doesnt make it so.

Its big. It makes a lot of money. Is it the best? What kind of qualifying factors would determine that?

Well since he said Top to Bottom I have to agree.

Serie A is average at best right now

La Liga has two great teams, a couple mediocre, then a bunch of crap.

The German Bundesliga might have the competitiveness through the table to compete with the English, but outside of Bayern do not have the top end teams and stars. Although that might change with the emergence of the young German stars.

the only statistical thing you can point to is the teams performances in European play

which ranks the Premier league first

I think alot of the stars of the German league don't get the hype outside of Germany but you could easily make a case that that league is better than Italy now and competitive with England and Spain on play.

The stadiums are the best in Europe right now. The crowds are also pretty amazing.

it is catching up to Italy, if Bayern had won the Champions League Germany probly would have moved ahead of Italy in the coefficient and gotten 4 CL teams after this season, with Italy moving to 3

Too bad Uruguay couldn't tie it up after that horrible Burrows dive.

On another note, you can get some pretty cheap England jerseys right now!

That was some weird reffing at the end there, seemed like he wanted Uruguay to tie it in the end.

European team wins the World Cup for the first time outside of Europe.

(Guess it makes sense that it's in South Africa since there no time difference).

A little closer than I would have liked at the end, but then again Uruguay got to the semi's for a reason.
On to the finals, where anything can happen!!

That was a lot closer than it needed to be. The game sure stretched longer than I think it should've though. I don't know what the ref was doing in the last couple minutes.

I don't think CL performance alone is an adequate way to judge league strength. Infrastructure, player development, fan support all fall by the wayside. A couple of sugar daddies in the right league can skew those numbers completely.

An add on to the attendance thing, I just looked at their attendance table and in 09 Bundesliga drew 6,000 more fans a game on average than the EPL, 12,000 more than Spain and 16,000 more than Italy.

I have alot of respect for the EPL, I think the tempo is at a different level entirely than any other league and the style is completely unique. Comparing the leagues is apples to oranges in a lot of ways.
