Virus or Other Issue
So I'm having an issue these days with browsing. I use FireFox.
I tried going to the below link (it was a link from a post in the Google TV thread). It loads for a brief second and then it switches to the following page. So I see the original article and page and then it goes to the page shown below. I've seen this happen for more and more pages and scans have found nothing.
Ideas folks?

Everything. I'm quite the av guy. I disabled javascript in FF and that appears to have fixed it. Anyone know more about this kind of stuff? As to why that would have fixed it and how disabling javascript would effect web browsing in general? I haven't changed anything in my setup recently, so I'm not sure why javascript being enabled would cause this issue now.

I would scan your registry for BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) related to MySpace.
Edit: I mean manually scan, or... search, as it's sometimes called.

Nope, nothing with MySpace in the registry at all. Now, I can't log into Rogers online with javascript disabled. Man, WTF is going on.

I probably sound like a broken record, but Spybot usually fixes this type of stuff....you will need to update the definitions file before scanning. I can't guarantee that it will fix your issue, but it might help.

Check your Hosts file for anything out of the ordinary.
c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
You'll have to right-click and open in Notepad.
Edit: I'm probably over-complicating things, but I assume you've done all the usual stuff like check your running processes, FireFox Addons, startup items and malware scans... windows services, etc.

Spybot does all of that for you, same with the BHO's.

I know Firefox has suggested to me to disable the Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.190.4 in my plugins. This I have done as it says "Known to cause security or stability issues". Otherwise maybe try the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool or try System Restore.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I searched the hosts file and use various AV and malware products. Nothing special about Spybot from my experiences. I use MalwareBytes Pro. Done a full scan with it and it does run in realtime as well. Scanned with various other AV's as well as Hitman Pro and nothing found.

That's the strangest thing. You tried to goto Engadget, but the URL is routed through or re-directed from a Facebook widget but the page that comes up is Myspace?!
Try using Chrome, Opera, Safari, IE and see what happens.

Now it's not doing it though. I did try with IE and it was fine. In FF it is fine now too. I really have no idea what was going on.

Oh wait a minute. Were you going to Engaget to read about another iPhone 4 issue? Then that was probably me re-routing you. I hacked their site so that every article about something bad with the iPhone 4 just sends you to Steve Jobs' MySpace page when you try to click it.
