Well, I think both have their uses.

But the way BB handles email and messaging makes it a bit more business friendly than the iPhone or any Android device.

Yeah I don't get that argument. The iPhone has push, and it works exactly like the BB.

I just realized that. Mine is pushed to my Milestone too.

Someone better explain how email is better on the BB stat, because I'm confused.

Yeah.

So pretty much the only thing BB has better is BB Messenger.

Heh.

Heh, I can't type with my dad's either. Nevermind figuring out how to send the damn thing in the first place.

I actually didn't mind the physical keyboard on the Curve, though the one I had was from a few years back. 8100, maybe? I can't remember the model number. It was red, though!

I got the red one because (as everybody knows) red phones do stuff faster than the other ones.

Not all email is pushed to iPhone.

Also, messaging programs aren't necessarily pushed either.

I have an iPhone and quite enjoy it, and like it better than a blackberry I had.

Only things I miss on my berry were my person email (shaw account) was pushed to my berry; my iPhone has to pull it. Good news is my work email is pushed, as is my gmail.

Other thing I miss about the berry was google talk was push on the berry - it was easy to access and chat with my girlfriend. On the iPhone I have to open up a separate program, chat, and if i want to do anything else, the program closes down, and I have to open it again, wait for it to load and connect... it's just an inefficient way of chatting.

I never used BBM so don't miss that at all.

The reason why business loves BB and think of the iphone as a toy is simply because of the BES. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlackBe...erprise_Server

We have over 300 BlackBerry's at my work and managing them individually (like you would have to with the iphone) would be a disaster. Like I said in the BB thread, pushing security policies or applications to 300 devices with the BES is a few simple clicks. This simply does not exist for the iphone - although I have read Apple is working on some sort of central management for them.

If you are not in a corporate environment, however, then yeah - there isn't much difference between how they handle email. In said environment though, sorry, it isn't even close right now.

I love the iphone, but if you need to do boring work stuff with it (corporate email, viewing and editing of documents, IM to groups of people, etc.) then BlackBerry is still king.

There is an Enterprise iPhone application...

http://www.apple.com/iphone/business...ion/#deploying

(As someone who has managed a corporate BES, this is exactly the same thing.)

Edit: In case anyone wants to read about the business capabilities of the iPhone: http://www.apple.com/iphone/business/features/

Edit: According to JD Power & Associates...

Among customers who use their smartphones primarily for business purposes, Apple ranks highest with a score of 803, followed by RIM BlackBerry (724).
Edit: (This isn't me being a fanboy, btw... I'm merely correcting a few incorrect statements that have been made.)

Well, since you are noting what I said, I might as well respond, although I wanted to stay out of this thread. I think my Bold 9700 is more of a useful phone when it comes to actual phone calls (sounds better and the quality of the calls is better) than it was on my iPhone. My battery lasts way longer on my Bold 9700 than it ever did on my iPhone. I get immediate email...sorry, but the email was flaky on the iPhone. Gmail was not pushed for me on the iPhone. I had to use a Yahoo account and even then, it came when the phone felt like saying it was there. I use Gmail on my Bold and I send a message from any other account and I get it instantly.

Overall the iPhone is better for surfing (which I don't do - I have a 22" WS monitor and computer for that) and games, as well as a bunch of useless apps. There are some good apps of course, but man there is a lot of crap for the iPhone. Takes hours to wade through the crap to find something useful. A lot of "novelty" apps and "games".

I've been able to download apps that I use everyday on my BB for free from BB AppWorld, I get my email instantly and I use it as a home phone now (cancelled our landline) and I know that the battery will not die a quick death on me and phone calls sound great.

My Bold is also much more configurable with thousands upon thousands of themes out there. Meanwhile, I was stuck with one look for the iPhone unless I wanted to jailbreak it and cause issues as well as reboots, etc.

To me, it just seems more "grown up". That again, is my PERSONAL opinion.

Hehe... yeah if you are old or can't figure out how to set up an iPhone, the BB is probably much better

Seriously dude? Not even close to the same thing. It requires you to plug every phone into itunes for crying out loud. We have deployed hundreds of phones without even touching them and the only thing the end user needs to know is their email address and a 3 letter password our rep from TAC mobility gives them when he delivers the phone.

The iphone is awesome at pretty much everything it does. But in this one specific market (enterprise level mobile device) BlackBerry still rules.

You're talking to a guy who has done this stuff for a living.

iPhones can be setup remotely with nothing more than a user name and password, via Exchange ActiveSync.

It's exactly the same thing. I know it all seems easy when your TAC Mobility guy rolls up and tells you to enter in 3 digits, but it's all the same thing.

Edit: I forgot to add that there are a ton of steps your TAC guy does for you guys, that a BES/Exchange admin would normally have to do on his own in other companies. Nasty things like provisioning and service books, etc. Just because the final thing is a 3 character code when you deal with TAC, doesn't mean that's all there is to it.

Edit: Just to be clear, I'm not getting into the whole BB vs iPhone debate. I think they're both excellent phones. All I'm doing is correcting some erroneous info.
