Versteeg Brings Stanley Cup to Lethbridge - (Updated with Video)
Sorry I don't know if this should go in Fire on Ice, but meh, in case anyone cares, the cup was at the Chevy dealer where I bought my car and about 2 min drive from my house. Pics and vid are via jimmcnally on Twitter and Flickr.
The event was to run from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. Got there at 11:30am. There was probably 300-500 people ahead of us already. We waited for one hour and then my son got sick, so we had to leave.
Saw on the news about that really old guy. He was a fan of the Hawks since 1940 and he had been waiting until now for the Cup to come to Lethbridge. Its been here a few times, but I guess life gets in the way, as I wasn't able to see it the last 3 times it was here.

Does anybody know if everybody got to have their picture taken with the cup, or did they have to turn people away? It looks like he may have walked through the lineup at the end... not sure if those people got their picture with it or not.
I'm not sure. I really should have gone down there today since I wasn't doing anything else. I'd bet they turned people away because someone tweeted that it was still madness at 2:30.
I know people who are related to Versteeg, and I saw some pics on Facebook of the family party at his house. Pretty cool. I admit that I've hated on him in the past, but the guy has reached what is very likely his ultimate dream. Big props to him for that.

Players who have a won a cup that have hailed from Lethbridege are John MacMillan, and Vic Stasiuk. I know there is someone else but I can't think of who it is.
Jamie Pushor brought it in the late 90s. I also remember Troy Loney bringing it in the early 90s but the local media seem to forget about that when they mention previous times the cup was in Lethbridge.
Its the Canadian dream man. If you can't win it yourself and your kid happens to have a shot, freaking help them!!!
he just played his first year of novice, and this summer he will be in the sylvan lake hockey school for goalies......i am trying to give him the opportunity, he'll need to supply the rest......
Forgot to mention. Kris was taking the Stanley Cup back to the street where he grew up playing street hockey. He had a game with his brothers and a few close friends growing up. Winning team got to hoist the Cup, for real this time. Timing was perfect because his mom sold the house and has to move by the end of this month.
I'd post pics but they aren't mine to re-post. 2nd best thing I could do is to direct you to Global Lethbridge's website where they post stories that the run, but their website is down as I type this and the story won't be up until sometime on Monday anyway... they should also have the event from Saturday too.
