There's no way in hell it will be closed all summer. That thing should be filled and compacted in a week, with it paved and opened to traffic in less than two. Maybe even quicker if they decide it's important.
Unless there was a bridge there. A huge culvert would be even easier.

I agree, there is no way they let it go even a month before it gets filled. It really depends on how much water there is and how long it will take to get it cleaned up to the point of being able to work on it. That seems like a lot of water.

At least it is finally twinned!
Now that the water has stopped the other side has one lane washed away as well, so I think their 48 hr estimate is going to stretch.

Has anyone been through this area recently? I'm heading back to Calgary from Winnipeg this weekend, and was just wondering what sort of delays to expect.
The road reports say it's open (but restricted)... If it's a huge delay it might be a good idea to find an alternate route.

If it is only a 20-30 minute delay, that would be fine.
The thing I found funny was Global reporting a detour of 300km. But for Calgary to Winnipeg you could just go through Saskatoon:

Yeah, I could go through Saskatoon, but if it's only a 20-30min delay then Mazrim is right... no alternate route would be shorter.
We just weren't getting any news about the delay here in Winnipeg.

My brother drove the #1 on Monday evening and said the only 'delay' was a 400m stretch where it dropped to 60kmph and was single lane.
Seems like everything is a go.
