Also being a Liverpool fan, I have no choice....although now I believe they have a sponsorship deal with the Sun, so until they get to their senses, I have to boycott them (even though I display their name on the jersey). Until then, it's Rickard's white for my cheap beer.

What is the rationale behind drinking "cheap" beer? Good beer isn't much more expensive unless you're trying to get tanked on beer...

Speaking of which... I've managed to destroy my taste of beer (one bad night at the pub). Any good methods on getting my body to re-accept beer without wanting to expel it immediately?

My favorite beer: Steamwhistle Pilsner
My second favorite beer: Kronnenbourg
Honorable Mention: Harp Irish Lager
Worst beer I'll drink: Keith's Red
Worst Beer I've ever had: Alberta Genuine Draft (AGD)
Beer you'll never catch me drinking: Heineken

Good thread.

If people like Rickards White, give Hoegaarden a try. And if you like that, then give Blanche De Chambly a try (yes, that Unibroue is mentioned again).

I found the Blanche De Chambly a bit stronger than I like, Hoegaarden is about right.

I think Innis and Gunn is a bit of an acquired taste. The first bottle I had was overwhelming. The second time I had it it was alright. Maybe I knew what to expect. The third time I had it I liked it. I agree, I think this is a beer you have one, maybe 2.

Right now in my fridge I have Stella, Grolsch and Hoegaarden.

There are some beer I haven't liked, but generally I like to try different beer.

Get in the LFC thread in the Other Sports forum.

I want to throw in another recommendation for Gosser, great stuff, I had one last night.

So I have always been a fan of dark beer.. and lately I have been drinking Guinness.

Have to say I am hooked, I wish I would have discovered its greatness years ago.

Also, when I was in Winnipeg for a work conference I was drinking Fort Gary Red and that was quite possibly one of the best beer I have ever drank in my life.

Any manitobians here will probably confirm this, sad part is you can't get it outside of the province. At least now I have something to look forward to when travelling that way.

Guiness is great stuff. its a little pricey though. I have a buddy in Wales that drinks it for much less (including exchange) than we get it here for.

I prefer Moosehead myself (for light beer), or smithwicks or Trad (for dark), but you can't go wrong with guiness

I can't seem to drink Guinness in the spring/summertime.

To me, it's a drink for when it's cold outside.

Does it replace XO Lager or AGD? I can't say that I have ever purchased any from that end of the Big Rock spectrum (I prefer Warthog, Trad, and Grasshopper is about as light as I go with BR).

Edit: And didn't they have a a Dandelion one or something a few years back? A light, low-cal beer? It seems that Big Rock has some branding issues in that part of the market as there seems to be a new brand of light beer and/or lager every few years, whereas their core brands are solid like a (big) rock.

Ah, beer. Beer snobs unite! Lately I've been drink a lot of brews from the Mill Street Brewery in Toronto. Their coffee porter is fantastic and their Belgian Wit is quite good too. I had them at 1410 on 17th Ave.

Canada - I love Canadian brews, we make many a good beers in Canada. Whistler Honey Ale, Kokanee Gold, Cutthroat by Tree Brewing, Big Rock (Grasshopper, Trad with a shot of jagger in it, Honey Brown, Extra Ale), Wild Rose Wraspberry, Unibroue (La Fin Du Monde, Blanche de Chambly, Chambly De Noire, Ephemere, 3 Pistoles), St. Ambroise Apricot Ale, the two Mill St. brews, Rickards White, Sleeman's Honey Brown

US - I've tried many US microbrewies over the years (Brooklyn, Rogue, Blue Moon, Moosedrool) but the only one I've found I like is Lagunitas from California. They make good beer.

UK - New Castle Brown, Guiness (it really is better in the UK)

Belgium - Hoegaarden, Delerium Tremens, Frulli, the differented coloured Chimay's are excellent and several others that escape me.

Mexican beers serve their purpose in hot weather

I really don't know German beers as well as I should

Brazil - Brahma Black and Bohemia Confreria

Australia - Carlton Cold, Cooper's (the green one)

I've never tried XO and can't remember the last time I had AGD..

It is lighter than Grasshopper though. Not sure it I would say its better... but the quality is up to par.

I like the XO, but I am a Big Rock fan, might influence my opinions.

Granville Island Breweries has a couple of limited release beers. Every year I wait for June for their Ginger Beer.

Just delicious!
