I agree, he has no chance.
I'm going to have to take another look...I thought for sure that the limit was $5k in self financing, but I confess that I really don't know that for sure!

Either way its a far cry from the $1mm he spent last time. That combined with his shady past should leave him battling the chicken guy for next to last!

She's spending all her time fighting off the Shawnee Slopes development apparently. In the last edition of the community newsletter thing she said "The Shawnee Slopes is a valuable green space treasured by all Calgarians." Really? Does anyone outside of that area even know what Shawnee Slopes is? I thought that little Fish Creek Park thing less than 5 minutes away was a valuable green space. Not like you can casually take the kids onto Shawnee Slopes either. Maybe she really likes playing golf there.

She says the major concern there is traffic. Really? The course is tiny, it's not going to be a huge increase. You've already said enough about Lake Frasier to make this point anyway.

Her head is screwed on backwards, it's hilarious.

While I can't say I'm really up to date on the whole Shawnee thing, I think the whole redevelopment thing is a maneuver, and you can't really fault her for putting a lot of effort into fighting it.

You're right...those 100 people living along the golf course make a lot of money I imagine, so she's smart to help them.

On a serious note, I do agree there is some posturing going on, but I don't like how she's presenting it to the general public.

Man, Al Noor must really be salivating at all the potential kickbacks for being a mayor. Didn't the guy spend over a million dollars last time to to try to win this thing? I guess all those kickbacks will make that one million look like nothing. Who knows how much Bronco made out with during his term.

No smart person should go into politics for the money. Particularly if they're already worth more than what they could ever possibly make in politics.

It's 10 K limit for the candidate. Up to $5000.00 per year from a contributor. So those who have been campaigning for 3 years could actually receive up to 15 K from 'a' contributor.

Okay that's really strange. We're giving people an incentive to run 3-year campaigns.

It is strange indeed. They have just recently passed some of these financial rules and some don't make sense like....

... campaign period goes from January 1 following the last election to December 31 after the next election.

***Breaking News***

Alnoor had dinner at Divino on Stephen Avenue tonight.

How will this affect his run for mayor?

Should I just start a thread and hope the mods attach a poll to it?
