Oh please God, no. What was so wrong with Brandon Routh? Ya the movie wasn't great(Singer was way too scared to venture from the Reeve-era script/ideas/characters which really ruined it, and the kid angle was a joke), but I thought he did a solid job with the character, unless they're planning on taking him in a new, darker direction.

Why does the title say Spider-man 4 scrapped when we are seeing screen testing?

They are casting for SPIDERMAN not Superman.

Because it's not Spider-Man 4.
It's Spider-Man reboot

The fact that they realize that they are in dire need of 'rebooting' this franchise is a testament to the degree to which Raimi royally fataed the thing up.
All I can say to them scrapping a 'Raimi/Maguire/Dunst Involved' Spiderman 4 is thank God!

How about spiderman actually has funny one-liners. That's where the movies screwed it up the most (for me anyways). The best parts of spiderman comics is spidey's dialogue during the fight scenes, movie-spidey rarely got me to chuckle. Also, Doc Oc taking punches to the face that would floor an elephant really bugged me.
At this point, I would find another re-telling of the spiderman origins excruciating and I'm inclined to avoid this movie. I've seen it dozen times in dozen different mediums, the origin story would be old hat to 80% of the crowd at least.
Oh well, Avengers is going to kick serious amounts of ass, I've got no interest in the the Spider-franchise anyways.

I was kind of hoping that Donald Glover (Derrick Comedy, Community) would at least get a chance for that reason. I have no faith that Fox could do a gritty reboot with Spiderman, especially given that Spiderman isn't really suppose to be gritty and Fox's interpretation of "dark" is an emo Tobey Maguire dancing like an idiot. I think going the other way and adding in a real comedic element like Glover would have been a great way to go, but again seeing the box office success of The Dark Knight and Iron Man it's obvious why they want to hop on that bandwagon.

Id personally like to see Yelchin take the role. He has the young and innocent look but also has the physicality and could also pull off the one liners that you guys are talking about.

Boy, what's with all popculture characters being played by the same actors?
If Yelchin gets it, we'll have Kyle Reese, Pavel Chekov, and Peter Parker all played by the same actor.

My assumption would be that there's not that many young actors in hollywood that are not only talented enough to pull off the role, but also have the look. And you can't really deny that Yelchin definitely has the Peter Parker look. More so than Jamie Bell IMO.

Are there any rumours to who should play Mary Jane?
I have a candidate! Not a rumour or anything, just something I noticed.

She looks like she is 14. Give me the hot red head "Jessica" from True Blood.

Spider-Man movie needs a deal with Mephisto at the beginning of it and Deadpool and Dinosaurs covered with the Venom symbiote.
Reboots must be done correctly.

She's 17, how old is Mary Jane supposed to be in the beginning of the story?

Either way, I think a certain self righteous poster would boycott the movie.
