thanks for posting the above clip - i am reffering to the girl sun bathing in "day" - i am sure my daughter simply saw another girl lying on the beach - but why not include a boy or have a family? To me it was just a subtle (but perhpas unintended) message being sent.

I saw it last night night and thought it was very well done.
I think if you start to over analyze small thing like that, then you are going to have much bigger problems when you are the over protective father/mother who's daughter is rebeling against them because they are over reacting to something as insignificant as this

You are simply over thinking IMO. I think if your daughter has a strong role model in her parents and family then she'll be just fine. I found nothing subliminal or offensive about that.

I don't think anyone will blame you for being overprotective, but in this case I think you may be overthinking it a bit. If your daughter is going to become influenced by every cartoon she sees then you need to throw out any strawberry scented bear you own and throw her toys out before she consider taking them to college

I don't even understand what you think the bad message is.

If older people are having trouble even seeing this subtle message, then I'm pretty sure a young mind won't as well.
Could be far worse... Tyler Durden could have spliced a frame of porn in it somewhere.

attractive blonde shapely girl in bikini on beach by herself - i saw nothing to provide balance to this woman, and the woman depiction as slim, shapely, blone, tanned etc.......as i said, i wasn't that bent out of shape by the short film, i just thought that adding her to the scene was gratuitous.
i was probalby a little more sensitive to this since a playmate of my daughters told her that she was not pretty because she does not have long blonde hair - i'd be a little surprised if my daugher even remembers this scene.

sometimes my son (8) is far more of an emotional wreck than my daughter (5) is. my son was literally scream in hysterics as my wife was cuttting his hair tonight - i expected him to come up from the basement bleeding and cut......

Might as well just put all children in a bubble. Over-protective parents nowadays are causing way more issues for the current generation than any Pixar movie ever will.

I don't see anything there....I was actually impressed at how well done both movies were in this case. Most of these movies like to push things a bit to create things for adults to contemplate and talk about. I took my 5 year old daughter last week also and the only thing that seems to have impacted her is the garbage truck. We were biking the other day and she say one and wanted to bolt the other way. I know exactly the sequence of the movie that caused this drama/trauma for her Nothing to get Happy Feet over imo....

No offense, but I never noticed the name amorak until that train seat thread. I think someone has earned a custom user title!
