These were shot with a Tamron 90mm DI 2.8 macro. I had a Sigma 150 but as my experience on sneaking up with bugs got better I went down in size because I find the Tamron is the sharpest macro lens on the market and as long as it gets me to 1:1 magnification then all is good. Besides, with the 1.6x crop factor on my Rebel it is actually quite a bit longer then that. The Tamron also makes a great prime, I really can't recommend the lens enough and it is not even that expensive for a macro lens. All shots were handheld.

This millipede was checking out my shoe as I was taking the picture in my next post. I looked him up and here's a fun fact for you - if Harpaphe haydeniana becomes distressed (handled roughly, for instance) then it will curl into a defensive spiral and smell like toasted almonds. What you smell is the hydrogen cyanide gas that this little critter can produce to ward off predators!

Exactly... unfortunately, if it came down to voting, there's no way to tell which photo people are voting for in the post.

^ You've got a bit of vignetting in the corners. Stacked filters?

Wow, hadn't noticed that. I'm going to check the others.

Edit: Yep, anything less than 20mm had it. Crap. Off comes one filter then.

There are some cool pictures in here.
I might post some of mine in a bit, not sure if they will compare though.
