Yeah RE5! Been eyeing it since it was $50/$60, almost bought it at $30.
"Sorry we couldn't add your item."
WTF?
Edit: Think I figured it out, have to go through the game info page to enter my birthday.

I just spotted Death to Spies Gold $8.74 (90% off).
Twin Sector is only $4. This is worth the price for a semi-portal like game.

Left 4 Dead 2 $10, or 4 for $30.

Is Left 4 Dead 2 any good for the single player campaign? I never even finished the first one yet and don't play it online, but might pick it up at that price for when I get around to it.

Downloading now...
Mass Effect 1 was on sale last weekend for $5! Steam is going crazy lately.
Hopefully they're selling stuff like hotcakes, and maybe the PC gaming industry will consider that they might be able to sell 4x as many games if they charge 1/3rd as much.

Yes, yes it is... huge for such a short game.

Actually Steam has stats out for that:
Quote:
A recent weekend sale of valve's title Left 4 Dead saw a 3,000% increase in sales, the amount of copies sold over said sale surpassed the amount sold at launch, and had no effect on retail sales, so this was all new sales.
Valve has also cited an undisclosed 3rd part game seeing a 36,000% increase with a weekend sale. Yeah, that's thirty six thousand.
These are the average stats:
10% sale = 35% increase in sales (real dollars, not units shipped)
25% sale = 245% increase in sales
50% sale = 320% increase in sales
75% sale = 1470% increase in sales
At 75% off, they are making 15x more money than they were at full price.
|
Pretty amazing stuff. I think this is one reason that Steam and its partners are so willing to do almost ridiculous sales to get people to buy it.

Hopefully the music industry realizes the same thing. A drop in prices will actually bring more money in!
Just bought Left 4 Dead, hard to pass that up. This summer sale is going to hurt the bank account... way too many games I want to buy.

I got L4D2 and Tropico. Way too hard to pass up a deal like that for $10 each. It's so hard to resist these sales even if all you do is play the game a couple times and never touch it again.

^ Yup, I'm quite a sucker for these deals. Over half of my steam games are semi-impulse buys due to sales.

My game list on Steam is ridiculously large because of all the sales they have. I have tons of games I haven't even played but buy because the deals are too good to pass up.

Sort of blah deals today, other than all Civ games on for 75% off.
