they don't all band together, they disperse amongst the legit protesters then change their clothing.

In the interest of their security, the general public is being kept apart from them. There is the WHOLE rest of the city to go protest or do whatever your little heart desires. Don't go to the fence or there will be trouble. When this fiasco is over, everyone can go back to their lives and find something else to complain about.

Sure, it's reasonable to ask people to stay away from the immediate viscinty of the summit site. But most of the protest is happening severl blocks, if not several km from the site. For instance on Esplanade, Yonge or Queen Street.

It could be possible that they arrested him because he rode a unicorn into town.

On the news it said the police let them have the block and didn't go in at all.
I'm pretty pissed after seeing that footage. People should have formed mobs and beat the crap out of those idiots.

I should hope so......
Either way I don't want that coming to Canada, although it is already to an extent.

I know the police didn't handle it the best (as mentioned before), but these guys aren't exactly helping themselves. They're destroying propery and could easily have put innocent people in danger/disrupting their lives. I'm not against protests, but if you're disrupting other's rights, all bets are off for me. If I were an officer there, I'd have a hard time restraining myself. Hell, the news footage alone angers me.
Plus, the deaths of two soldiers are completely overshadowed by these idiots.

IMO, the Police are avoiding looking overbearing.

It is that kind of "who cares" attitude that allows the noose to tighten until you have to get security clearance to take a dump.
Have you read Orwells 1984?
Come on ........do you really feel unsafe on the streets out there?

There is a fine line here Nage....
You really think our government spent more than a billion dollars to stop a few hooligans and anarchists?
No ,no ......this is all a result of the so called war on terror..

Maybe they don't want to confront some hopped up moron in a black mask carrying a brick?
Maybe the "legit" protestors like what the anarchists are doing.
Maybe they might turn over the millions of pictures they took to the police later so that individual anarchists may be prosecuted? (like that will happen.....)
I dunno. From what I could see a lot of "legit" protestors were cheering on a lot of blatantly illegal acts.

Yeah, but I think practically everyone can get on board with that one... except maybe the guy inside sipping his mocha-frappa-lakka-ccino while writing poetry on his lap top.

Who? These "anarchists"? They are protesting the lack of things to smash on a daily basis, their right to cause chaos and cause damage to things that are not theirs.
The real protestors are there saying that there isn't enough being done to alleviate poverty around the world, the need for a better response from our leaders on environmental issues and asking for a "Green New Deal" which includes strong re-regulation of the financial sector. But that doesn't get covered by the news because some asshats want to break stuff and spit on cops.
