Yep, mine almost seemed faster the first couple of days, but I have been texting a bit this morning and it's been sooooooooooooo sloooooooooooow. Bad enough for me to seriously consider an upgrade to a BB right away.

I'm still fine with my 3G, it's about the same as it was before the upgrade.. if anything the lag isn't as bad but lasts a bit longer... i.e. rather than just doing nothing for a few seconds, it still operates but is a bit clunky but does that for a few more seconds.

Super slow, laggy, stalling when I'm trying to type. I have to shut it down and restart it a lot more now, whereas in the past I virtually never had it off. I mean it's about two years old, so I suppose it's going to lose some of it's ability, but I'm at the point right now where I don't even want it. It's being a real PITA.
I want to get the iPhone 4, but not sure if it's worth it right now. I'm considering exploring my options.

I'm also curious. I was thinking of getting the 3GS at the cheaper price instead of waiting for the iPhone 4. Assume I can phonesex Rogers into letting me upgrade..... :P

I would hope the 3Gs could handle 4.0 better than the 3G.

Come to the darkside. BB messenger awaits you.
After reading this I think I'll skip updating my Touch which is the equivalent of a 3G.

LOL...The wife and daughter both have BB's, so it is an option for sure. Seriously considering the BlackBerry Bold 9700. In fact, I'm on with Rogers right now.

Yeah, don't want to sidetrack this thread too much, but talking with Rogers, I got a BB Bold 9700 for $134. I can keep my 3G and simply switch the sim card between phones. My plan works with both so there is no issue. Best of both worlds for me now. I'll definitely get to see which I prefer now.
I do have to say, I am very impressed with Rogers' customer service. After being with both Telus and Bell, Rogers is a million times better AFAIC.

I put 4.0 on my and my wife's 3GS and while the functionality is good and the speed is better, battery life is absolutely dismal. I hope a patch comes out soon to fix this battery drainage issue.

So the battery life is definetely less than what it was before 4.0? I will refrain from updating then.

FWIW I have a 3GS and haven't had any problems with 4.0. I really like it in fact.

I have a 3GS and when I started up apps for the first time after the download it was a bit slower but other than that there haven't been any problems for me anyways. And also I noticed that my battery life got better with the update not worse

Yeah, I'm not sure what's causing some of these issues. My 3GS is fine, and battery is the same if not better. My buddy's 3GS is fine, his wife says her's feels faster (I know, I know)... the guys at work have all updated, and their phones are fine.
I wonder if some of you guys are upgrading from a jailbroken device, and/or are restoring old device settings, etc.
I did a full wipe and restore to 4.0, rather than upgrade from 3.1. Mind you, I also use MobileMe, so all my email, contacts and calendars are just pulled down from a cloud... It's a lot easier for me to just blow everything away and start from scratch.
Anyhoo. Mileage varies, I suppose.

I'm definitly feeling some slow down on my Touch. Whenever I bring up the music or the video folder it takse significantly longer then before the update. Haven't noticed a difference on battery life.. thank god, I can't imagine it getting less then these things currently get.
Regret doing the update.
I was seriously considering getting the new iphone,.. but as of right now I'll pass 100%.

The new one will be super fast though, has twice the memory and the faster chip, I mean my iPad is lightning fast, and the thought of a phone that is as fast makes me drool.

I'm having the same thing on the 3G - feels faster for a couple days then starts slowing down. A reboot fixes it, for a few days. Haven't noticed any battery drain differences.

Yeah blackberries are awesome. As I've said quite a few times on this site, I was a BB fan before the iPhone came out. I'd probably be using a Bold 9700 today.
Definitely buy a blackberry.

Mmmm... Teardown time!

iPhone 4 Teardown
We stripped down the iPhone 4 to its basic components. Apple definitely spent time giving the phone a thorough makeover, meticulously changing every little facet. We are happy to splay the fruits of their labor for your enjoyment!
We have confirmed that the iPhone's A4 processor has 512 MB RAM, unlike the iPad's more limited 256 MB. This decision may have been made fairly late in Apple's development cycle, because early leaked prototype phones only had 256 MB.
