What the heck are they protesting? Why are police the target? They're just doing their job?

I am watching this on CBC and my stomach is turning to see my hometown being f-ed over by these lunatics. Set the water cannon on them.

Yes, this is a disgusting display to be sure. If I was one of the those riot cops I would have a real hard time containing myself. They need to start smashing these protesters in the head and be less worried about the optics of the situation.

I don't understand what the violent morons are hoping to achieve. It saddens me to see this happen to T.O.

I think they have. There have been reports or protesters bleeding from the head.

"Protestors" are looting stores on Yonge Street.

Knowing these "protesters" they likely inflicted in the wounds on themselves simply for the media coverage. But I certainly do hope I am wrong!

F'in' idiots. I thought it was a stupid over-reaction when I heard they moved the Blue Jays games this weekend to Philly, but I guess they were right.

How bad should they feel that they've actually made Philadelphia look like a safe haven?

They need to start keeping a list of the ones that are charged with some of this violence and destruction, a list like the soccer hooligans list, and use that list to keep those thugs from ruining it for people who just want to have their say in peace.

Idiots. Made their way down Queen Street from Spadina, smashing stores along the way and looting where possible. Moving along south down Bay Street towards the financial district smashing bank windows, Starbucks, and eventually lighting two police cruisers on fire. Moving back up Yonge, forcing lockdowns of Toronto General Hospital and the Eaton Centre, again looting stores along the way.

Different city, same old story. The so called "legitimate protesters" complaining that their message is being hijacked by anarchists. Really? They know that this would happen because it happens every time. The fact is they wanted this to happen. The leaders of the so called legitimate protest organizations announced days ago that they would not rule out violence as a protest method, which makes them complicit in the violence today. The CBC can barely contain their joy at these proceedings. Just calling it as I see it.

Protesters just wanting to cause destruction. I don't see why we don't use more force against them. I like the plow truck idea.

It really makes me sick to see this BS go on in Canada. I would say next time we hold the G8/20 we should simply pass a temporary law that prohibites protesting. Why allow these hooligans to have there way?

It might be a small group doing the damage, but pretty large crowds cheering on every bit of this mayhem. Pictures don't lie.

Forget temporary. Protests in general should be outlawed, and these hooligans should be shot.

Some wiseass will now come out and say "well, when you run security on the cheap, what do you expect?".

He should be shot too.
