This is not a scam. 2 friends have signed up at no cost and have been mailed the 5 gig iPod for their participation. I have just signed up and am almost qualified.
Here's how it works. To qualify you must:

2) You must take them up on 1 of 3 offers:

Once you sign up, they ask you to e-mail (or post) your link to other friends, co-workers etc. Once you get 5 others to sign up under your link, you get the iPod.
