Beautiful goal. And a red for Chile.

EDIT: Shameful dive by Torres.

They're being really aggressive. Might as well just hand Brazil another 'W' half their team is on yellow and 2 starters are already suspended.

2-0 Spain.

WTF is going on?

After the round of 16, they changed it this time around.

Haha, just read this on Matchcast:

If Suisse don't score a goal and make it now, they have no excuses. Laid out on a platter for them.

Villa's little post goal strut celebration was classic stuff. Looks like Chile has to play Brazil or go home if the Swiss can get anything going, not good options.

Swizterland need to win, now by 2 to tie both Spain (should they win) and Chile on points and beat them on goal difference.

A Swiss draw or loss and a Chile loss still sees Chile go through. Spain win and they're in.

ugh, what an ugly end to that game.

Oh and someone please tell Scott Russell to stop referring to Spain as La Roja. We get it Scott, you know their nickname, saying it every ten seconds doesn't give you any more soccer credibility. Man, he sucks.

Portugal v Spain, Locke, we betting??

Beckenbauer tries to swallow his, poor timed, words:

"Before the World Cup, I thought England would play a major role in the tournament, maybe win the title," Beckenbauer told Five Live. "They have a great team and a great coach and then after the first two games I was so disappointed - not angry, but very, very disappointed. Maybe this (attack on England) was the reaction of my disappointment, but I apologise.
"Because I like England and English football, I am really a big, big fan of the English style. Maybe it was a reaction because I was disappointed - maybe I was in a bad mood. In other words, I apologised already and now I look forward to the game on Sunday. I think it will be a very, very interesting game."

Right, Franz, right.

Default This plays out nicely

All the boring teams are out and most of the top contenders avoided each other in the round of 16. This could play out where the games get better as we go on.

On paper The Uruguay-USA bracket looks the easiest. If England is going to win, they'll probably have to beat Germany, Argentina and Spain/Portugal. Then win the final! Holland and Brazil may have an easier path as well.

I am really looking forward to this.

As a Chilean supporter, I can't explain the horror I felt when they conceeded that deeply stupid first goal. They started off pretty well but Gonzalez couldn't capitilze early on. Spain could have also easily scored early. Bravo is a good keeper but temporarily went insane, he should have stayed in his net and let his D play one on one. The nearest player was another Chilean so they should have been alright. And if he needs to play it, blast it so far it goes into the ocean.

Chile played well in the first 2 games and dominated but today Spain showed their class. Chile didn't. Chile looked good at times but discipline is always their undoing. They are hot heads. Now they face Brazil without Medel and Ponce, two of their back 3. And when you consider they've racked up a dozen yellows this tournament, it doesn't look good.

I was surprised to see Millar come in for Gonzalez but it was the right decision and he was fortunate with the bounce on his goal. After that, Spain shut it down and barely mustered an effort. The last 10 minutes were hard to watch. I found myself gravitating to the Honduras game, thank God they blanked the Swiss. Chile deserved to go through as they are better than the Swiss, and if you can't score against Honduras you deserve elimination.

To think, Chile could have tied if they didn't let in that ridiculous first goal. But who knows, if it's a one-one game, Spain wouldn't sit in a defensive shell and anything could have happened. VIVA CHILE, MIERDA!

You can get chili in Chile. Chilean food generally isn't spicy itself but most people like to put hot sauce on their food. If you're chilly, put on a sweater.
