Updated my phone overnight (4 hours to download... fail). Work up this morning, and it's like Christmas... OK, maybe not that exciting, but I've been very happy with the update. I've even got all my aps onto one page with the folders (not including my "Don't Use" folder, full of "Stocks", and "Compass").

The multitasking is something I can't see myself using too much, until it becomes complete multitasking. I don't like that no matter what you do, it gets added to the multitasking bar.

Other than that, love the background picture feature, love that I have have one pic as my lock screen, and one as my background...

I'm happy.

Resetting the network settings didn't work. I think he'll just restore again and see if that helps.

thanks.

I still wish we had the option of removing Apple apps we don't like/use. Even though I can hide them off in a folder now, it still irks me that I have to have their Stocks app in addition to Bloomberg or whichever other ones I use.

Anyone else noticing some weirdness with filling in fields on websites? It's tough to describe, just an overall... I don't know... wonkiness. Like slight delays in response to typing, or some weird zooming issues, etc.

I'm with you on that. I wish that some of the intial apps could be removed all together just to clean up my home page...or whatever it should be called.

I haven't noticed that, but the whole thing kind of feels faster to me. Am I imagining that or is it a little quicker than it was?

Yeah, overall the new OS does feel a bit more responsive. At least on my 3GS anyway, although it could just be the "new toy" effect. Mind you, I never really had many complaints about the speed of the old OS.

That's what jailbreaking is for...

For now I've just created a folder called "useless" and stuck them in it.

I'm really not a fan of the so-called multitasking. First it shouldn't be called multitasking because there's still only one app running at a time. In my personal opinion they should have called it background services, since that's an accurate description of what it does and it doesn't mislead the user into thinking that they can have multiple apps running simultaneously.

That's just a minor gripe though. What annoys me the most is that everything you open goes into the task bar or whatever it's called. I get way too many apps in there way too quickly and it's a pain to constantly delete things out of there. A much better approach in my view would have been to only put apps that are subscribed to one of the background services in there. Then the user knows which apps are actually "multitasking" and can cut them off from the background services by erasing them from that menu. Seems like a way better approach to me.

A couple of the updates like folders, threaded email, background pic, etc were nice but that's just catching up to competitors. Nothing at all new or innovative about it, so nothing to get excited over.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed. Not that it was a bad update, it just fell far short of the mark established by all the hype. I'm sure it will start to become better once some apps actually make use of the background services, but for the time being not a single one of the apps makes use of it as far as I can tell.

Based on all the gripes about multitasking, I have to say I'm glad I still have the 3G then...LOL. Oh and I like the idea of folders (of course it's been done with other apps when you jailbreak), but could the folders be any uglier? They didn't really put much thought into looks with those did they?

Not sure of the difference. The phone can only run the software.

It's buggy and slow on the 3G. I'm not the only one saying it.

I was worried about that too but it seems about the same so far.

Watching the iPhone 4 launch on TWIT (http://live.twit.tv/). Leo has already sung his own version of lyrics to "enter sandman" to the music of "lisztomania". That was pretty painful.
