Wow the English win one game today and the trash talk just starts coming out of the wood works. Last time I checked the Italians and English have been extremely similar in how unimpressive they have looked this tournament.

This is true, but sometimes it can be hard to tell if English fans are being truthful with their expectations and predictions. Like how it is when talking to Leafs fans about their chances of winning.
Honestly I think that this is the year England should be able to get over that hump and finally beat Germany.
They already had their goaltending blunder for the tournament, so as long as they can win before penalties they should be able to get to Argentina.

PS why are the English and Germans ganging up on the Italian fans, don't you guys play each other in a couple days. Just proves that people hate on those teams more successful then their own.

Besides congrats on having one more championship than DFB. Got a bunch of good actors. Emmy award winning actors.
At least the boys on the German national team that are not born in Germany know the national anthem......

I think I'd rather see Italy finish first in their pool still. As much as I'd like to beat them (I think Holland has a decent chance too), I'd avoid them in the round of 16.

True enough, but keep on making them meatballs and I'm okay with keeping them around. Honestly, if not for the pounding the ground like death is about to overcome them antics of a select few Italian players I'd have been a fan for years. Gattuso may be my favorite player of the last decade outside of Keane, but good lord some of those guys need to get lessons from Burrows on how not to act ridiculous. I think the Italians piss me off more than anyone simply because the BS antics take away from so much quality play.
I'm hoping to see an Italy-Holland match-up. Nothing against the Dutch, but I think a match against them could wake the Azzurri up.
Lame that I can't embed; but this memory haunts me still...even though we made up for it last Euro, I still dread this would happen if we played Italy...
Gattuso is great. I really hope we get to see him play at some point during this World Cup.
I didn't grow up playing, but watching him and Keane honestly made me love the game. Hard men with an intensity you really don't see very often. Dirty at times, sure, but I'll take that over guys who routinely flop around. It's the type of player I worry isn't welcome on the game anymore.
