Take a time machine and go back to the 1960's. Anyone woman who does the same work I do, demands to be paid equally (which I believe should 100% be the case, but sometimes people just aren't worth the same salary regardless of sex), and uses it a barganing tool if she isn't, can stand on the damn train just like I do.

I had a related issue about a week ago. I get on the train downtown heading northeast during the afternoon and it is packed by the time we get to Centre Street Station. There was a mother with a stroller who got on, so I stand up to give my seat up, and immediately some guy who couldn't have been much older than me, if at all takes the seat I had just vacated.

Now in his defense, I don't think he had noticed the mother get on, but at the same time I was kind of pissed off about it. He was a construction worker and I assumed he had been on his feet most of the day whereas I had been sitting, so I let it pass. Still kind of irked me though.

Same thing happened to me. I stood up to give my seat to a very pregnant woman, and a 300 pound bohemoth sat her ass right down in it. I was about to explode, but thankfully other passengers said something. I wouldn't have been so diplomatic with my response.

It doesn't have anything to do with womens rights or equal rights or any of that BS. It has to do with being a polite gentleman and showing respect for people around you.

If you are an able bodied and you don't give your seat up to a woman, you are a pansy.

You don't just ask someone for their seat if to the naked eye no one can see anything wrong with you.

If you were sitting in the priority seating area, too bad IMO. She could have some sort of condition (like a knee replacement or joint issues as mentioned above) and not be able to stand for an hour. Who knows.

If you were in the middle seats though and she asked for your seat, I would have told her where to go.

Chivaly is dead my friend. Equal rights means equal rights to be able to unconfortaby stand on the train or bus. I do find it strange that she signled him out. There had to be other males on the train who were sitting. I am thinking that she is just the biggest c&nt out there and since her life is such shat she decided to find the one person quasi enjoying himself on the ride and publically out him.

I've done it. And I've done it to prove a point to the goofs who don't give up their seat...especially the 18 year old clowns who sit at the front in the priority seats.

I will also swap placed at the front of the bus if it means a woman gets to hold onto a pole (I'm waiting for it) instead of the ummm....hand stirrup.

I don't know about that. Nobody needs to know that you need to take their seat because you're having debilitating cramps.

Yes, that's exactly why. You also hold doors, help seat them at the table and stand when they leave.

Why should she feel obligated to divulge her (possibly personal) ailments to a train full of strangers to qualify for a seat?
"Do you mind if I have your seat? My menopause is making me a bit light headed and I'll have trouble standing in a moving vehicle"

Also... it's pretty easy to lie about it anyway... so what good does it do?
