It was a brutally reffed game. He might as well pack his bags and go home to Spain because he just reffed his way out of work.

This is a mistake. If you replace Green with anyone it should be Joe Hart. David James's Goalkeeping resume reads like a blooper reel.

trust him more than Green though
if it wasn't Hart at the start it won't be, even though Hart was a top 2 or 3 goalie in the prem last season, Capello thinks he is too inexperienced

I dont. This is the Seaman mistake 2.0. Will the Brits ever learn? I know its only against the mighty, indomitable Algeria, but this is a bad move.

Hart was the top goalkeeper in the premier league last year, he was the team of the year goalie.
I can`t believe you have the top goalie in your domestic league as 3rd choice.

How do refs like the USA-Slovenia game even have a job? He refused to talk to Donovan after the game on why the 3-2 goal was not allowed.
Looking forward to Netherlands vs Japan tomorrow morning!!!!!

I'm talking to people at work. I don't know how to solve the problem of the so-called American 3rd goal. It's no different than an early whistle in hockey. Or disallowing a goal cause the guy was in the crease (see Habs-Caps Game 7)

The 'tackling from behind' on Klose was soft. The first one especially, but he handed those out too easily, to both teams.
The one commentator said it best in my mind, Lahm got a legitimate yellow for a tackle and then later on made another perfectly clean tackle which the ref called a foul and the commentator says:
"This is when you know a referee has no control, when Lahm has to feel lucky to get to stay on the pitch and defend a free kick for making a perfectly clean tackle."
It went both ways, but you cant just keep handing out yellows, there has to be control without immediate and severe punishment, 'hey, that was a foul, thats the second time you've done it, do it again and I'll card you again.'
He did it with Schweinsteiger, when he booked him, he gave him 2 or 3 warnings, then he booked him for not heeding them. My issue is that Klose got nothing, no leniency at all and it changed the outcome of the game, potentially the tournament as you suspend one of Germany's best goal scorers.

I see your point, and you're right. Of course, I, as a Serbia fan will not complain. Yeah, Klose should have been warned first before giving him a second yellow. But on the other hand, I feel he was too lenient with Schweinsteiger, there were really horrible tackles on his part.

Both refs are probably not going to get elimination stage games after performances like today's.
Refs arent supposed to be the main show, they're supposed to be invisible.

Yeah. US though looks in a good position to still get through if they can beat Algeria.

Fair enough, but hes got to meet somewhere in the middle, and he didnt he went from one extreme to the other and back again, the absolute model of inconsistency and the antithesis of what his job is.
Refs HAVE to be consistent, even if its consistently bad, otherwise the players (believe it or not, the people we are actually here to see) have no idea how to play or whats going to get called.
I'm upset with the fact that Germany lost, and I'm upset with the way the Serbians played, but Germany had their chances and scuffed them, so you lose, thats the way sports go, but I dont think the Serbians are a 'disgrace' or anything, I think the Germans had too much working against them and Serbia executed their game plan well and got a little lucky. It happens.

Yup, they get through for sure with a win unless the Slovenia/England game ends up in a tie (assuming England wins today), in which case it would be whoever beat Algeria by the most goals.

he won the award yes but I personally thing Hart, Given, Gomes and VDS were all excellent
wouldn't have argued with any of the 4 winning it

VDS didnt play quite as many games so I'd argue that, but Hart should be stopping for England, the 'inexperienced' tag is pure horsecrap.
You've got a good, solid, but inexperienced young keeper, you've got a mistake prone keeper and you've got a geriatric joke. Which would you play? I know which one I'd pick.

Yup, agree with you. I think we can both agree on that he was really inconsistant. But, what goes around comes around. Against Ghana, the referee helped them A LOT! And today, we got the, let's say help. Something really needs to be changed as far as refereing is concerned.
Although, I'm happy we won, I'm a little upset we played, almost cowardly. By that I mean, allowing Germany to control the game and create chances even with a man down. Same thing happened in qualifying. I can't explain why. It's as if we're scared to attack. Which is a shame really, because when we attacked we created chances. (see Krasic on the right side, your LB was, honestly, manhandled. Everytime Krasic blew right past him).
But I don't think you can blame Antic for going for a defensive tactic. Germany is a European power, to go all out attack against them is just foolish, especially when you're facing elimination like we did. The main goal at the WC is to win, at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
