Default C-train accident today?

I just heard that someone was hit by a c-train down town and it's brutalizing traffic. Just wondering if anyone has more details on this?

Heard on QR that it happened around 1, there was an ambulance right around the corner, and the person was a woman in her 40s.

Police say the woman crossed against the lights in a crosswalk and didn't heed the transit driver's horn blasts before she was hit

According to Calgary Transit's twitter, train traffic is back online downtown, although some hiccups may occur due to the disturbance in the schedule.

I can't fathom how people get hit by the C-train. I'm not trying to be crass, and I realize that they're pretty quiet, but of all the roads to jay walk on without looking - 7th Avenue?

iPods and cell phones. I don't know how many times I see people with their head down and out. Heck, I've seen some gal start running across the crosswalk on a flashing red hand only to stop in the middle of the 6 lane TransCanada to finish a text.

I'm glad you guys don't take it either. Now that I know you don't take it I can take one of those 3 person bench seats all to myself and lie across it during rush hour. When people ask if they can have a seat I'll answer "No, it's okay. I know two guys from the internet that don't take the train anymore and these were their seats".

Why?

The c-train is a great mode of transportation, a fantastic alternative to driving and Calgarians should be proud of it.

Nah, I don't ride the train anymore because I don't work Downtown and plus I drive to work these days. But yeah, I would still ride the train.

Anytime there is a "situation", the Ctrain gets delayed for hours. I take the express bus now. The delays are kept to a minimum.

I saw someone get a jaywalking ticket on 7th Ave because of his headphones, it was pretty funny.

I'm walking to the LRT to get home from work in pedestrian traffic. Get to 7th and there's not traffic in sight, so you can tell a few people are thinking about crossing against the lights but we stop as there's a cop across the street. This guy with DJ style headphones on steps of, notices the cops, pauses for a second and decides to cross anyways. While he's doing this the cop sees him and starts yelling at him, "I wouldn't do it, I wouldn't do it". By the time he's finished crossing the cop has already started writing his ticket.

C-trains hitting pedestrians seems to be happening more often these days. This makes what, 3 since the new year?

I know it's rush hour and all, but is risking your life really worth saving the 4-5 seconds it takes for the train to pass by?

I've taken the train for about 2 years now and I can say I've been held up badly only once. There have been some commutes that have taken twice as long as usual, but overall I have found driving to be far less predictable.
