I've interjected three different times in my life in situations where there was a threat of a woman being assaulted. I generally agree with you.

However, in a self defence situation, you better believe the bitch is going down.

Im a little appalled that some people on here actually think its funny. Grow the eff up. (not directed at you Crunch, but others in this thread)
My mother taught me to respect authority. That girl's mother should have done a better job.

I didn't think it was funny, per se, but felt it was a completely justified response. And frankly, I feel GOOD that the cop didn't moderate his response because it was a girl. He backs down there, and they might as well transfer him to a different district.

Although in this case I don't think the force was overly excessive, considering the one girl was interfering with the officer, the use of a closed fist to the face is fairly high along the use of force continuum (although obviously below taser or lethal force etc.). I do however have a problem with all the posters who are saying that police brutality, especially along racial lines, doesn't exist. Here's an example from the same police force, just this year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-aCVrG-M_0
Although I believe that most police officers get into the profession for the right reasons it doesn't excuse them when they do use excessive force. Even if they are good officers they are still willing to protect the bad apples through the "Blue Wall of Silence". The only way that these officers ever get punished for their crimes is when they're caught on tape and even then its rarely results in criminal charges.

Heres another example of the same police force:

I respect your views but you're wrong. And in this situation, whether the moron is a male or woman, they're all equal under the law.

She changed the rules of the game by going after him. She was extremely lucky that she didn't get zapped.

If you're dumb enough to go after a cop, you don't deserve to hide behind a chivalrous standard. The race card nor the gender card are going to get this woman out of this one. She deserved to get arrested, and yes, she deserved to get corked in the face.

I hate to pile on because it seems like everyone already has, but it probably has something to do with you taking a general "growing up as a guy" lesson and elevating it to a silly absolute principle.

It is stupid. Most absolutes are.

(I really wanted to say all absolutes, but then, like the awesome guy I am, I caught myself.)

CP generally has a stick up its ass towards ignorance and stupidity. Your posts have the amazing ability of often falling into both categories.

How would one know they didn't like your opinion without reading it first?

I am pleasantly surprised with the reaction over this incident here on CP. I am proud. I think I shed a tear.

Plus it's Seattle. Haven't there been police killed in Seattle or Washington State recently?
I would imagine police there wouldn't take any chances.

AMEN. When I read the first post, I was sure I was gonna be in a thread with a bunch of people like "Canuck-Hater". The sad part of it is, I expect these people to chime in (80% of CP) in about 3....2.....1....

Cuz he sucks at his job.

The weird thing is that we can all see he sucks at his job, but everyone still thinks he has the right to "kick the s**t out of" that woman.

If he was right to punch her the first time, why didn't he keep punching when things were far more out of hand? Maybe he figured out it was a bad idea the first time?

Or maybe he was trying to keep the situation from getting completely out of control? Look at how far away backup was. Three minutes is more than enough time for a mob to kill a cop.
