I'd really like to know when they will get the SE leg going. I seem to be hitting too many big, slow trucks when I cut down 84st between 17 and 114 avenues.

Havn't they started? I believe the start date was in May...?

They must be working in the middle then, as there is no signs of work at 17 or 114 ave. I should head down the 22x one day to see if they started there. Looks like the 52 st twinning is the priority right now.

It's really a shame that nobody bumped this thread to indicate when all the details of the SE leg are going to be made public.

Speaking of ring roads, I noticed last weekend that they are going to town on the Anthony Henday in Edmonton. There is bridge construction at Rabbit Hill Road, Collingwood, Lessard, Stony Plain Road and this insane 5-7 bridge interchange at Yellowhead going up just west of the existing bridge structure. With the Grande Prairie bypass also nearing completion, you'll soon be able to drive from Claresholm to Dawson Creek without seeing a single traffic light.

Given the province said it was supposed to start over a month ago, I'm surprised we are back at public consultation again.

I don't think this is about consultation. I'm pretty sure it's a "this is how things are going to be; and you are going to like it" session.

They had the exact same public information session for the NE portion. They held it shortly after construction started and it did result in some access changes being made.

So, just came back from the info session. A few key points I took from it:
- Work has started along 22X. Most of it is surveying and staging work so far.
- The interchanges along 22X will be started first. Partially due to them taking longer as they have to allow for current traffic, and partly because the benefit will be seen sooner.
- Those of us living along 22X- it doesn't look like we are going to see much in the way of better noise barriers.
- While MacLeod Trail isn't part of this project, they expect to have that interchange improved before the SE leg of Stoney Trail opens.
- There are apparently better maps as of today on the Province's website outlining some of the exact details.

Never really thought of that. That is a pretty piss-poor interchange. So by "expect", they mean that they don't have an actual plan for that interchange yet? If they do, I'd love to see it.

There is no plan designed yet as they are still discussing it with the city; as MacLeod in the city's responsibility. But I was speaking to the main guy at Alberta Infrastructure and he assured me it has to be done before the SE leg opens.
I think part of the reason it remains so bad is the province really thought the Tsuu T'ina deal would go through; and that would have meant the announcement of both SE and SW legs starting around the same time. That would have allowed MacLeod to be the first improvement.

I live a few houses away from 22x behind the berm in Mackenzie towne and never hear much from 22x other than a very occasional use of jack brakes.
I wonder if it will get bad enough that I might notice it.

I think that's the key Rathji- by the time the Trucks are near you they are already past one set of lights, so the truckers are into "city driving" mode. However in Copperfield I hear them all the time as my part of 22X is still un-lit highway and truckers haven't had a stop in dozens of kilometres.
I also think that once it's an expressway without traffic lights there will be less need for them to brake.

Here's the functional plan for that interchange,

That's how these freeway to freeway interchanges have to be built though.

not sure if this link has been put up yet anywhere but has some nice maps of the ring road overlayed on a satellite picture. Deerfoot and Stoney Tr south seems to be mayhem haha.

I'm confused. Are they putting an interchange at 130th or not?
Some say no, others say yes. I'm assuming it is in the plans for the future.
Quote:
130 Avenue SE:
- No construction activity anticipated until August 2012
- This is grading work for an interchange to be built once the future alignment of 130 Avenue SE is completed by the City of Calgary

Just a bump to mention there is another SE Ring Road open house Monday at McKenzie Towne Church. There is a sign on 52nd and Copperfield gate, but I think it starts at 5:00 and goes to 8 or 9.
