Hi Chris,
My mom is looking at going to Atlanta from Aug 29th to either Sept 9th or 10th. I don't really see any smoking deals out there yet. Just wanted to see what you can find.
Thanks in advance.

Hey Chris,
My girlfriend and I want to hit up YVR July 30 - Aug 2, best price I can find right now is $320 pp after tax, just wondering if you can find any better deals?
Thanks!

Hi Scoop,
Atlanta never seems to get the great prices that the cities just south of there do (anywhere in Florida). The cheapest are the American Airlines flights for around $590 roundtrip after tax, Aug 29 to Sep 9 being the cheapest. Air Canada is around $630.
She's probably not up for a 5 hour drive, but Jacksonville, Florida is always really cheap, around $388 at the moment for those same dates (Continental).

That's as cheap as there is at the moment I'm afraid, and it's what we're stuck with unless WestJet or AC has a decent summer sale (April was their last 'real' summer sale).
They each have a promo on at the moment though for 10% off. 20% if you can find 2 more people to buy at the same time.

Calgary to Dallas, Texas - $243 roundtrip after tax
Air Canada just dropped their price to Dallas, Texas to $243 roundtrip after tax.
Looks to be plenty of summer availability.
http://www.AirCanada.com
^^ look for the $75/each way flights (before tax).
In case anyone has the desire or reason to swelter in the blistering Texas summer.

Chris, I pm'd you but just in case, one final request. A one-way from YYC to GRU. I'm looking for the best price but would prefer Air Canada, but that's probably not likely. June 29th - July 1st in that range. If you could pm or post a few of the best options, I could choose between them because I am flexible. I appreciate it. Thanks

Hi Swayze,
Not really, you basically just have to hope for a 'real' WestJet or AC summer sale. As opposed to the fake ones they put out every week. The last real one for summer was in April.
I think WestJet hinted that might be their only good summer sale for the year, but who knows, depends on many seats they're filling.
They both look about the same for that weekend at the moment at around $340ish roundtrip after tax.

Cheap + Europe + summer hasn't really happened this year so far.
The cheapest are around $1090 roundtrip after tax using Air Transat if you can go Aug 5 to 26. Hopefully Air Transat will feel compelled at some point to offer cuts on July/August fares.

Hey Cactus,
If you didn't mind a 10 hour layover in Mexico City, Mexicana has some one ways for $670 after tax. But it looks like it might only be June 28th or July 2nd.
Otherwise, Air Canada might indeed be your best bet at around $1000, which seems expensive, since you can usually get roundtrip for around that.
Let's see if there are any cities that get decent one way prices to Brazil. Miami has COPA airlines for $578. LAX is around $600 with Avianca.
A one way from Calgary to either Miami or LAX is around $200ish. So in theory you could probably do it for around $800ish but would need to pick some flights that timed well.
Let me know if any of those options sound decent to you and I can help you out further if you want.

Chris, I found something on July 2nd that stops in Mexico City for $750 but with a 5 hour layover. That's not a bad option but I'd prefer to travel on June 30 or July 1st. If that Copa deal for $578 (I assume including taxes) from Miami is still around, what could I do to connect to Miami directly? Thanks

It looks like the COPA flights leave at the following times:
8:21 AM
and
3:29 PM
and
5:37 PM
It seems like the cheap Continental flight to Miami is on June 29th with Continental for $215 after tax. The problem is, it doesn't get in until around 11 PM.
Spending a night in Miami would probably negate the savings. Even taking the early morning flight on United for $292, it looks like you wouldn't get into to Miami until 6:12 PM, so maybe this plan wouldn't work so well after all unless you wanted to spend a night in Miami for fun.
To LAX, it looks like you can get in cheaply by 11 AM using Air Canada ($219) on the 29th. But then the Avianca flights leave at 11:30, argh. Maybe that wouldn't work either.
Hmmm sorry, maybe Mexicana is your best bet.

Looks like Westjet is doing away with seat sales.
http://www.calgaryherald.com/WestJet...614/story.html
Going to drop prices by 25% instead.
So I wonder what the normal prices are, I always seem to see seat sales on their website

All I know is that for flights to Toronto the week before Christmas the price dropped from $830 to $550 because of this change. Makes it much cheaper for me to go out there for my cousin's wedding.

Doing a quick check, looks like Air Canada has already matched WestJet's prices. All it'll take is one Air Canada seat sale to blow up WestJet's business plan.

Just to note, from what I've been reading, WestJet still plans to offer seat sales...

We do not plan on eliminating seat sales completely. We'll have some more info to share on this soon.

So far the reaction seems to be "Why are you taking away sales? I like sales!" and "Price for the fare I'm looking at hasn't dropped 25% !" (even though the release states that the *average* is 25%, some more, some less)
