English announcers have their niche and are quite stoich but I can't stand the amount of times in a game where things are happening and they let fly with 15 seconds of dead air. The Spanish/Brazilian commentators talk to much and too loudly but I'd take their excitement over the British stoicism. It sounds like they took on-air pause lessons from Jim Rome.

I think we'd all be comfortable giving Heatley back to the Germans. Give us Stamkos instead.

Cameroon were horrible. Totally wasted Eto'o at right wing.

They can't ban the vuvuzela's, they'd face plenty of pushback from way too many sides to appease the small amount of people who are against them.

I can't wait to pick one up myself.

Not a good start for the non-seeded Europeans so far.

Group A France sucked
Group B Greece blew
Group C Slovenia won but looked poor
Group D Serbia terrible
Group E Denmark stupid
Group F Slovakia
Group G Portugal
Group H Suisse

A non-seeded European team has made the quarterfinals of a World Cup for as long as I can remember. Will that streak end this year?

Not going to ban the vuvuzelas, for obvious reasons. No big deal in my opinion, you get used to them after a while.

Not a great game by Holland, but a win's a win. I thought Denmark played better in the first half, but after that own goal they had no idea what to do to tie it up and ended up opening themselves up more than anything else. Also thought Robin V Persie didn't look all that good; but that the subs injected some good life. That Elia was impressive on the wing, few good runs and unlucky not to get the 2nd goal.
With Japan winning the next match should be for first place in the group!

Putting 10 men behind the ball doesn't equal playing better. Denmark has a talented team and should not be playing like that.

Vuvuzela didn't drown out the sound of the "England Band" and their 90 minute rendition of the theme from The Great Escape.

Nice to get a win over a darkhorse Denmark team. Bad luck by Denmark on that first goal and it was close until Kuyt put it away late. Keep it going Holland! 4:30 am start times are brutal, lol.

You just had to say it didn't you?

However, I'll bet in your wildest nightmare's you didn't expect quite as big a blunder as that. Epic is right.

I really think that if James isn't ready to go I'd go with Hart.

I would still play Green. I thought he played well other than the blunder.
You can't just kill off a guy like that.

You cant really, unfortunately it pretty much has to be Green, if he starts another keeper for one mistake (bad as it was) then he basically states 'make a mistake, lose your place.'

You cant win with a culture a fear, because they'd only be playing well enough not to lose.

You'll see Green in net next game. Not to mention, James? David James? Thats no alternative, I dont know how that guy keeps worming his way into an England jersey.

Ya the more I think about it I think Green stays, it should be Joe Hart, it should have been Joe Hart to start. But if Capello thought Green was the guy, and that Hart was too young, than he won't make the change over 1 mistake

Man I would be embarrassed if I were associated with Danish football today. It wasn't so much that they didn't look like they were trying to win right off the bat, it was that after they went down 1-0, they stayed in the shell like they just didn't want to get blown out. That was a sadass gamplan.

The Dutch were lacking that one guy who could really beat a couple defenders single handed without Robben until Elia came on, he was really impressive.

Never been a big fan of Green so it's pretty easy for me to say. I'm not simply throwing him under a bus for one mistake.

With that said I hear what you're both saying (Girly & Locke) and I hate to destroy a guy like that. However, it has been seen in sports before. It's a tough game with very high stakes.

edit. By the way, I also think that Capello stays with Green. I disagree with that but then Capello's track record is a little bit more impressive than mine so who am I to say?

Hart is young but he's very very good. The best keeper England have by far. Believe me, it's not even close. He's inexperienced and that's the big (only) knock on him. If he makes a mistake a la Green does it destroy his confidence? It would be a risk playing him but perhaps a risk worth taking.

Ahh, to have a goalie dilemma like Spains. Pepe Reina would waltz into the England team by some margin, and then some.

Like the look of the Germans, Locke. That's a fine young exciting team. A pleasure to watch.

Agreed, however when facing a superior team that's really the only safe way to play. Look what happened when Denmark fell behind and tried to open up; Holland started getting good chances.
I would have loved to see Denmark play more offensively (since I think Holland would have been able to create more, and it would have been more entertaining), but realistically Denmark were at their best when they played defensive. Credit to their striker (not going to try to spell it) who held the ball up pretty well by himself in the first half to allow for some chances.
