Default Prince Charles blames world’s ills on ‘soulless consumerism’ and Galileo

Hilarious from the future moron King.

Quote:
The Prince of Wales has blamed a lack of belief in the soul for the world’s environmental problems, and said that the planet cannot sustain a population expected to reach 9 billion in 40 years.
He said he found it “baffling” that so many scientists professed a faith in God yet this had little bearing on the “damaging” way science was used to exploit the natural world.
The Prince pinned part of the blame on Galileo. Criticizing the profit imperative behind much scientific research, he said: “This imbalance, where mechanistic thinking is so predominant, goes back at least to Galileo’s assertion that there is nothing in nature but quantity and motion.
“This is the view that continues to frame the general perception of the way the world works, and how we fit within the scheme of things.

How could this guy have an opinion on the reality of life? He hasn't had to work a day of his life and never will.

Hopfully I'll be long dead before pollution/over population runs rampant.

I knew the church should have executed Galileo. It would have solved all our problems.

NM, wrong Monarch.

I take it back.

I thought we were talking about Diana's kids, not Charles.

My bad. I fail.

Have you been trained in millitary school, continued massive humanitarian efforts in the name of your mother, and spent cold bitter nights on the streets of London with bums to raise social awareness?
Do you realize who you're asking? I'd be impressed if he could tie his own shoes.

I wouldn't go that far.....

All members of the Royal Family are expected to work. Prince Charles is patron to hundreds of different organizations/charities, and is very active (think Senior Executive, CEO type role) is many of them. Certainly not the blue collar hammer-swinging way we would associate with work, but he definitely has a job.

As for the specifics of the story......I think Charles has every right to comment. He's perfectly qualified to form an educated opinion on these subjects. While I wouldn't consider Charles to be the world authority on the Environment or on issues of spirituality, he has studied religion and spirituality his entire life and is certainly well versed in the topics. As for the Environment - it's the topic that the Prince has dedicated his adult life to, decades before it became fashionable.

That is something he does to fill in his time as he sits back on his many estates that have been handed to him.

A real job is when you have to work it to pay the mortgage and put food on the table. In that sense. He has never had to work a day in his life.

On one hand, I thought we were talking about Diana's kids and not the murderer until I looked more closely at the thread. Still on coffee #1 here, folks!

And on the other hand, running a country is a real job. Don't be daft. Life's not fair. He's a prince with a nation of pressure on him, and you have the pressure of your wife and kids. Its like comparing apples to VWs. You sound so bitter...

I don't think he's wrong about soulless consumerism at all. We buy things for no other reason than to buy them. We toss out toxic electronics at a breakneck pace for example. Take a look at the sheer number of products at the average Walmart, it's insane. Do we really need all of that crap? Almost no one has any environmental responsibility. Sure we recycle, but it takes energy to do so, and is hardly a solution. Go to Toys R Us and you're surrounded by plastic garbage, do kids really need 50 sets of Lego? I'm not against these products, but there seems to be no restraint.

We ARE on an unsustainable path, and our values and worth as humans are based around what we buy and own. So dumbo ears or not Charles is not wrong on at least one count.

The key word in my comment is HAD.

Yes, he has done alot of great work as you have said. But he has not HAD to work a day in his life. So how would he have any perspective? How can he say ... "Criticising the profit imperative behind much scientific research.." when he has never had to make a profit.

Why the insult? You don't know anything about me?

I assume it has to do with not liking what I have to say. So get over it. Put me on ignore. I have found that it does work wonders. But then are you going to cry now about me telling you what to do? lol...

This thread is an example of the ad hominem logical fallacy.

Yes, it is comparing apples and VWs. Which is why his statements don't make any sense to me.

Also, I am not bitter. I am having a conversation about the topic. Why do people think I am bitter or upset at times. I rarely get upset. Should I put a smiley face on my posts?

Really...

When did anything Prince Charles says become thread worthy news?

His resume....he was born into a backwards country that still has some fainting belief in the monarchy.
