I wonder if the Oilers 'new media' guy has anything to do with the Capitals website...back in the day he could do a mean baseball website.

+1 to the Vipers for finally updating the website look after five years.

-2 for going to such a cartoonish look.

+1 for, so far at least, making an attempt to keep the site updated.

So, about even overall.

Back in the day I was assigned to build the Cracker-Cats website. The day after I finished it and got the GM's approval he was fired.

So what does that say about your web site building skillz?

It's nice to see they use a MLB stadium in their images, not Foothills with 4 people in the stands:

Also, you guys hear that Jose "Lima Time" Lima died a couple weeks ago?

I saw him last year a couple times and he was hilarious with the banter back and forth with the fans behind the dug out. RIP.

Who was he? A player?

You don't know who Jose Lima is?!?!?

He played 13 seasons in the MLB! He's a pitcher. He also pitched in an all star game.

He played with long beach last year. He was a riot.

It was a good site or at least passable. The GM was fired because of the last place team and average attendances of 350. Not because of what I did.

Went to the Vipers game today, got 2 cheeseburgers and 2 fountain pops (me and the wife's lunch), and it cost me $19.50. That's ridiculous, more than the Flames (I could get fries plus the Burger for that price at the Flames game). Affordable my ass. I'd be broke if I brought a couple of kids.

Some pretty sketchy tactics by the doormen where people were buying tickets as well. There are 3 difference prices at Vipers games Bleachers ($9.00), Lower Bowl ($16), Upper Bowl ($12). However, they were specifically indicating to people before they got to the window that they had the option between the $12 and $16 tickets, not even indicating the Bleacher seats were available. Just "This line for lower bowl, and that line for upper bowl".

I don't get why they even bother with a tiered ticket system to begin with. No one is going to buy $16 tickets when they can sit wherever they want for cheaper. They should just make all tickets are $12. They'd make more money this way. Blows my mind they don't do this. I could go on for hours though about how poorly this team is run from a marketing/sales/PR perspective. Can't they take on some co-op kids from the university to get out there and market the team properly? Nothing can be worse than it is now.

The Vancouver Canadians do the same thing. Everyone I know just buys general admission and sits where they want.

And for your $16 you don't even get to choose where you want to sit. You tell the ticketseller which side and they give you tickets there. What happened to how they sold tickets last year?? That place gets screwier and screwier.........

Not on Sunday. They already had the tickets printined, and when you got to the booth, there was no choice (Not that it matters anyways given the empty seats).

If people are looking for a nice night at the park - drive 30 minutes more and go to the Okotoks Dawgs. Fantastic new stadium out there, a well-run organization and a chance to watch some kids play some good ball.

It's a great experience...and a fantastic night out.

Nope, not a thing. That could change in a year's time though. Thanks for the kudos, didn't know anyone was out there who remembered I did the Cannons site.

I'm definitely going to check some games out this year. What's teh cost of a ticket there? Will two cheeserburger and 2 pops cost me 20 bucks there as well?

I understand the Vipers likely want to cash in, but this is a pretty irresponsible promotion if you ask me. it's essentually
A permit for the 5% of the Roughrider fans that cause all the trouble here to get absolutely blitzkreig's before the game. If I was the City of Calgary i'd be stepping in here. There's a reason the pre-game Rider party at Foothills was eliminated before, and I doubt i't because of poor attendance.

"The Calgary Vipers Baseball Club, in cooperation with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, is proud to present a dual sport day at Foothills Stadium, Saturday, July 24 beginning at 1:35 pm.

As a tribute to the thousands of former Saskatchewan residents now calling Calgary home, the Vipers are making their game vs. the Edmonton Capitals into Rider Day at the Park.

“Saskatchewan Shines! Rider Day at the Park” will feature a live concert immediately following the baseball game and the first pitch is being thrown out by Jim Hopson, President/CEO of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. There will be Rider prize giveaways between innings and a special salute to the Green and White during the 7th inning stretch.

Fans must purchase a ticket to the baseball game and be in the stadium prior to the end of the 8th inning in order to remain within the facility for the concert event to follow.

The post-baseball game event will begin immediately following the game’s conclusion and will run until 7:00 pm. The Riders will be selling the 2nd Series limited edition Centennial Share on-site during both the baseball game and the concert event. "

I go to about 10 games a year. I will not be returning after this BS.
