Infraction expire meaning that the points don't register anymore, but the history is still there.
The points don't really matter that much, we just try to set them to expire now because people seemed to not like them always being there. But really the # of points doesn't matter so much as a subjective judgment by the mod team about a poster.. someone could have many points but still be a good poster, and another could have just a few and be on the edge.
The history stays there though so we can watch for long term things.

It's the internet equivalent of being shot in the penis by a tiger with a head-mounted crossbow tipped with cobra venom.

Its just a PM with a little blurb from a mod like "don't insult other posters" or some such thing.

Hey another question... the mods say you can PM them if you disagree with an infraction. Just wondering, have the mods ever repealed an infraction because someone actually had a good argument?

Yes. Though it's worth pointing out that we are very seldom wrong about anything.

Yeah, it's a balance between getting the infraction reversed and calling attention to a moderator mistake which embarrasses him to his peers which means he has it in for you and will ban you for your next spelling mistake.

Celebrated Square Root Day

I had one reversed. Oilfan#81 was getting ragged on for talking about the Oilers in the FOI forum. I took a sarcastic dig at him in another thread, saying that he was being off topic for not talking about the Flames, and recieved an infraction for it. I then pm'd the mod, saying I enjoy Oilfan's posts, and was just making a joke, and they reversed it.

Which also confirms that we have no sense of humour.

My repealed infraction for asking stupid questions about infractions begs to differ.

Jesus, mine were never like that....
More like:
"Stop swearing at people."
"Quit being an ass."

It was after Roger Millions' dad died. I'll let you figure out the rest.
