You can PM me and/or post any questions you have here and I will do my best to answer them. I'm currently in the reserves but also have a bit of experience with the regular force in the few years that I've been in. So I'd be happy to help where I can.
As someone already mentioned, however, I do believe there is a freeze on infantry recruitment at the moment for the regs. Not entirely sure about the reserves though...

I dont agree, why should people be forced to fight in a war they dont believe in? Because a few politicians who has power over a country say so? Would the prime minister and his cabinet go to the front line? Unless we are being invaded..than sure..fight.

So if someone leaves the country with all its benefits and freedom because they don't want to fight for it, aren't they no longer claiming the benefits and freedom?
Unless you immigrated here, it is not your duty, it is what you were born into.

There is no draft, so I don't even know why this is being discussed. I agree with CaptainCrunch. If you are in the military, there are obviously ways out of going to war if you are called to it. But if you're in the military, that shouldn't even be an option for you. You volunteered to join the Canadian Forces, you shouldn't be able to pick and choose your battles.

In this day and age, there is no forced.
We aren't talking about a conscript army. If the military is fighting a war that you don't believe in, then I question the wisdom of joining that organization, especially if you pick a combat trade.
Again if your part of the military you can declare yourself as an objecter and absolutely there are consequences, especially if they seperate you, but if your standing on your moral ground, sometimes there has to be a price to pay.
There are mechanisms in place to report improper or morally objectionable orders, nobody is forcing you to shoot a kid, at the end of the day, you do have a say and you are responsible for your actions, thats why the "I was just following orders" is no longer a legal defense.
But there's no force.
Some people are unhappy to be involved in the wars, but its up to them to balance their sense of duty against their sense of for want of better terminology morality.
I don't respect people that outright desert and expect to be sheltered or treated as a hero. To me its a cowards way out, or even more an ignorant way out.
So lets say you don't want to fight in Iraq after you've enlisted in a military thats fighting there. Instead of going to your CO, filling in the paperwork and going through a circuit where they question your courage and convictions, you commit a major crime and jump ship. I question your intelligence.
We should be encouraging these people to go back to the U.S. to stand behind their beliefs. Because deserting has made it worse for them.

Dude, calm down. Obviously you are passionate about draft dodgers.
I was just referencing that Glenmore Park litter bug thread

Ya this thread took a turn that I didn't intend for but it's been pretty interesting.
Thanks to those who offered help and responded to my PM's. I'm sure they will keep coming.

Silly silly man.
Do you remember in Jr High or even High School the kids who even when picked on couldn't fight back? or jus couldn't help a friend getting the crap kicked out of them? some people simpley aren't cut out to fight and personally I don't want them trying to fight as they'll end up dead. A pedefile or a rapist is a mentally challenged person who needs either help, jail or death depending on who you talk too but someone who can't kill or hurt another human being is most certaianly not below them.
Everyone is not cut with the same cloth bud. It's very easy for you to act like a tough guy with the "If I was drafted I would go anywhere they sent me. It is your duty." but lucky for you it'll never happen...you might just wimp out when push comes to shove and ruin your tough act.

I would expect this level of cowardice on a Canucks board.. but Flames fans?
I am going to walk into a store today and grab a soda from the shelf, open it, take a slug, then put it back. The store keep will ask me if I plan to pay for that, and I will reply "No, I don't have to because I didn't like the taste."

No pedofiles was a misspelling of pedophiles.
