I agree. But don't get caught in the hate-fest for Eminem.

i like Not Afraid - the other two songs did nothing for me.

the background voice in the last song sounded like Ozzies computer enhanced voice.

i was going to buy the last album until i sampled it at HMV......

i should mention i thought it was cool that the nhl used not afraid for a promo video

There's 5. He's good, but not the best alive.
Had no clue who brother Ali was so thanks for bringing up his name. Listening to his songs now and he is pretty good.

Well we are obviously going to disagree because I don't think he is anywhere near 2pac or biggie.
I agree that he can rap, but he isn't that great. I more would place him along the same likes as Lil Wayne (not his commercial radio songs). Hell Asher Roth is getting pretty similar to Em.

For current rappers, just off the top of my head: Lupe Fiasco, Andre Nickatina, GZA, an argument could be made about Kanye, Jay-z. I could go on.
For the record, I'm not saying those above are getting close to 2pac of biggie either, but I believe they are definitely better than Em.

It is a sample from Ozzy. That version on youtube is high pitched so it doesn't quite sound like that.

I can assure you Recovery is worth the buy. Relapse is worth the download - Bagpipes From Baghdad, Beautiful, Deja Vu, Hello and the 2 bonus songs are are solid Em songs.

I should also post this flow he did about a month ago. This is what convinced me that Em was back to his old ways.

I guess it is personal preference because IMO Jay-z is one of the most over-rated rappers/singers. Lil Wayne is one of my worst hated rappers ever.

I don't even think Lil Wayne knows what he's saying half the time.

Eminem's songs just have so much meaning and doesn't just rap about beeches and money.

Edit: Best of all time!

I like Eminem as much as anybody but Jay Z overrated?!

Not even close. That guy knows what he's doing.

All respect is due to Jay-Z, he's been in the game a long time. But he has benefitted greatly for reasons OTHER then his lyrical talent ie Biggies death, controversy with many artists, Beyonce, being an entrepreneur etc.

The guy is called (and calls himself) the greatest rapper alive and he simply is not close. That is why he's overrated.

A lot of people would agree he's one of the best rappers though. It's hard to question his rapping talent and praise Eminem's as they are really similar in their style (both have alluded to that in the past).

I don't like Jay-Z all that much, but I like Lil Wayne, I don't like the songs that are just him, but a lot of my favorite new songs are someone else featuring him.

Don't get me wrong I think he's good, but I think he's over rated. He's made a ton of money in his life so he must be doing something right I just think he's not as good as his success indicates. I know that sounds funny, but like C-life said I think he's benefited from a lot of things over his career. Being a freemason probably helps too.

That comment can be easily changed to apply to Eminem. Hey, I like the guy, and he WAS at one point arguably the best rapper alive. And then Ass Like That, We Made You, Crack A Bottle, etc changed that. All artists get old and aren't as good as they once were. That's him now.

See I think half the reason I don't like Em so much is that he more raps about killing his mom, wife, or other stupid stuff just to get some press.

Also I think you're reading too much into my lil wayne comparison. What I'm saying is that both are about the same in greatness to me, and that being is not that great.

I'll give you that Em owned Wayne's "drop the world"

I have 4 Em songs on my ipod, 4 lil wayne songs.
I do like the cool kids ft. lil wayne - Gettin it. Not saying it's a great song, but decent for a play and wayne is decent on it.

I have heard the whole leaked album and to me this is a return to his best work. Much better then his last two albums, and up there with his first three.

Eminem is bound to get hated on because just because he is so mainstream and has been in the game so long. Unless you are an underground/independent rapper or you die, you will get hated on in the rap industry.

I truly believe that even if Biggie and Pac were still alive they would be just as hated on as Em, Jay-Z, Nas, and the rest of the long term rappers because the rap industry is a hard industry to strive in as the long term.

Eminem is to me is probably the best lyrically of all time. He doesn't have the best delivery, and wasted a lot of his songs due to the gimmicks/accents but when he puts his mind to it nobody can touch him.

All around to me musicians are hard to compare, but he has to be seen as one of the all time greats with Biggie, Pac etc.

I'm completely suprised by this thread. He doesn't belong in the top 50 rappers of all time, let alone the title of "best rapper ever". Calling him the best rapper of all time is like calling Akon the best singer of all time.

No one is calling him the best ever. They're calling him the best right now. Although puckluck did sort of imply that he is top3 all time.
it's way too hard to make a list about best ever.

I never said he was top 3 all time, just that he's in the same league as Tupac and Biggie.

He is definetly top 10.

ahh that is why I wrote "sort of imply". I just assumed that since you originally threw out biggie and 2pac and Em being up to them and he being the best right now that you placed biggie and 2pac as your 1 & 2; or 1a 1b.
