For the life of me I cannot figure out what weed this is growing in my yard. Its creeping in from my neighbours yard where he has pretty much let it take over a large portion of his yard.
Its a fast growing weed. Looks to spread through roots and some of them have a white rhizome/tuber below ground.
......must.....eradicate, they're pretty much the fastest growing thing ever, and are trying to get into my flower beds.
Ok, it looks like you have lawn, with a plastic runner thingey to keep the grass from creeping into some bed.
What did you have in that bed last year? To me it looks like some flower that might have been growing in the bed that seeded itself out. It does not look to me that the weed is going from the lawn into the bed. It looks like some flower that grew there last year and seeded itself into the bed and into the lawn.
Here's what grows outside of our house in India lol(That our relatives live in). Most East Indian families have a crap load of land in India. I took these two pics when I was there a little while ago. I brushed out my cousin in the 2nd picture. The stuff grows everywhere. people walk all over it in spots.

I got mine at Canadian Tire but they may have stopped selling them. Basically it burns everything in its path, allowing you to plant other things in that spot right away. Also comes in handy for starting camp fires when you don't want to fata with kindling; or if it's pouring rain.
It looks like Wild Violet to me. Have you ever seen it flower?
If so it is apparently difficult to take care of.
If you want to go the chemical way you can control the Wild violet in the grassy area using a broadleaf pre- and post-emergent herbicide from Home Depot (or better yet an agriculture centre). This will only touch the weed and not the grass.
I recommend against chemical in the garden area as you likely want to grow other perennials (broadleafs). Instead I would be persistent and cultivate it regularly and do not let it flower.
Even if it is not Wild Violet though you could try this if you have not already as the plant is a broadleaf and can be targeted within the grass.
Best of luck. If I am wrong I blame the effects of that interesting plant in post #10.

I can see why they stopped selling it, somebody probably kids/drunks either burnt down a house, stared a wildfire, or burnt some friends face off with that thing.
I prefer to pour a pot of boiling hot water into a metal watering can and water the area a few times depending how deep the roots are you can sterilize the area after a couple of runs.
Not at all, as I've said, I would rather start with LA over any of the other WC playoff teams. Bunch of underachievers who look good on paper but don't even deserve to be in the playoffs.
