What kind of bird crashed into my window?
This little guy just crashed into my window and is down and out. Should I put him back outside or wait until he feels better?
What kind of bird is he?

Probably a traumatized bird.
They can - really, seriously - die of fright in a situation like that, beyond the concussion it probably has.
I'd suggest you put him outside in some tall grass or somewhere else fairly safe from observation. If he/she recovers, it will fly away. If not . . . .
But having it inside your house will probably scare the bejeebus out of it.
My big book of Alberta birds is at home . . . .

I've heard you should line a box with newspaper, put it in there and leave it out on your patio - ideally where cats won't find it. It'll usually recover and fly away on it's own.
Don't keep it in your house. If it recovers it'll start flying around inside and could injure itself further.

I put him into the cage you see him standing on, he opens one eye sometimes but generally doesn't move. When he recovers I'll take him up to the roof.

You mean I wasn't supposed to put a crease in his wings to make him do loops?

It helps to put a tape x on windows they fly into.

He has the wrong beak structure for birdseed. He's probably an insectivore. I don't know what kind of food could substitute for that.
There's also a Robin that always keeps attacking his own reflection in another window and getting dirty streaks all over it. I put a miniature scarecrow there.

My grandparents often order small birds and quails at meals and it disturbs me greatly.

Wild caught birds rarely survive in captivity, I would put it outside and hope for the best or get a hold of a wildlife rehabilitation centre.

I'd try and hand feed him live 2-3 week old crickets if he didnt cower. If that didnt work I'd mash them up and leave them in his cage. Or tear their legs off and put them in a dish they cant climb out of.

His eye looks swollen shut. He'd die if you let him outside since he probably wont/cant fly.
