Like Pepper, I boycott General Motors and Rexall Drug stores. Even if GM stopped the naming rights of the Canucks home ice rink, I'd still boycott them for the way they treated my father in the 90's after he'd been a very loyal customer of theirs for 30 years. They could make the greatest cars on Earth and I'd still have nothing to do with them. I was pretty annoyed that the government bailed them out.

Along the personal line, I will NOT buy anything from Bell. My mother had 23 years in with Bell-Aliant and had only 2 years to a pension when they laid off most of the middle managers (keeping the young ones and letting go the ones near retirement) and offered them a pittance severance package that works out to $100 per month. The CEO took home a huge bonus because the stock shot up due to the layoffs, while I figure I'll be helping pay for her retirement or she'll be greeting people at Walmart at 80.

I live in Moscow, Idaho. I'm boycotting local businesses that are owned and operated by Christ Church. They are a church that moved its entire population into Moscow and attempted to hijack downtown with their businesses. They are a very classically Christian church that opened their own K-12 school and college in town. The college bases their curriculum off of 17th century Harvard's. The church released a pamphlet outlining their beliefs, in which they stated pre Civil War South was a time of "unparalleled racial harmony."
 The businesses are:

 Bucers Cafe
 West of Paris Restaurant
 Nuart Theatre and Coffee Shop

If you are ever in Moscow, I encourage you to avoid those places.

I don't actively boycott anywhere else. Although there are several businesses I try to avoid.

McDonalds - Awful food and service.
Apple - Their products are overpriced and inferior.

 Blockbuster - Awful customer service.

Air Canada - Several terrible, terrible experiences, many stemming ultimately from issues with aircraft maintenance, which is scary.
Boycotted Future Shop for a decade as a result of rude staff. At this point I would go back if I had a compelling reason to, but I don't - there are better alternatives.

 I'm with RW99 on movies/tv/music by scientologists.

Apple - those mac/pc ads are too smug and their customer fanboys are worse.

Count me as another one who will NOT buy packaged food from china. That whole "Product of Canada" fiasco was a lesson learned for sure.
Also, I will gladly spend money on CD's vs DL-ing for free with one exception: METALLICA! I love (most of) their music but I refuse to pay one red cent for it. And every single CD I've burned of theirs has "Eff You Lars!" written on it somwhere.

I love going to the super Walmart by my house. It's brand new and no lineups. The prices are good too.
I only boycott any food franchises if I've had problems at one particular one. I don't stop going to all of them. A lot of it depends on how the person that owns the franchise runs it and hires great management.

MacDonalds for example doesn't have a ton of owners in Western Canada. A bunch of people just own a sh**load each. I guess when you have that many then you can hardly micro manage at all and you better make sure you hire good managers.

Yeah I know about Walmart and it's history. I watched all the documentary's on it as well. I don't know. It's just too convenient for me. It's a 5 minute drive from my house. I only get one or two things from Safeway. They are overpriced compared to Walmart.

Yes that's Larry David. I love his show. I must be the only guy out of a ton of my friends who watch it or even knows about it. Everybody just gives me a blank stare when I mention it. It's on HBO as well so not everybody has that channel too I guess.

For cars, I guess I also do boycott any company that has a line-up of cars that is completely 100% boring to me...hence Toyota for a long time.

Most Toyotas come in two kinds. The boring regular mode and the supercharged versions which actually have quite a bit of pep and aren't boring at all.

It gives the buyer the choice between fuel efficiency and power.

Sweet thread! It's funny how I've probably gotten 10+ PM's from various CPers over the years asking if I am serious or not.
