This was probably Dementiava's best chance at her first slam and unfortunately she got injured in the 2nd round.
Pretty sure her and Jankovic are going to be slamless forever.
I don't know who I'm cheering for. Stosur had the tougher road and probably "deserves" it more, but she'll be back, whereas this is Schiavone's one and only chance probably in her career to get one.

Soderling and Berdych in a 5th set right now.
Winner gets the right to be walloped by Nadal on Sunday.

Man, I wouldn't be surprised if Nadal ends up with the most career grand slams once it's all said and done.
I'm not sure if Roger can ever reclaim the #1 ranking. If not, than Samprass will keep his record for most weeks at #1.

It'll be tough for Nadal cause
A) Federer has a couple more in him, the total could be closer to 20.
B) Two of the grand slams are on hardcourt, Nadal's worst surface.
I can't see Nadal winning the US Open more than once in his career if at all. He's usually gassed or injured by September and there are far better hardcourt players.

Also, Nadal has wonky knees.

Schiavone is the Women's champ!
6-4, 7-6 over Stosur.

Yawn.
Good for Schiavone, though.

Nadal takes the first set. Well on his way to major #7 and French title #5.

Soderling can't take advantage of his break points.

Looks like Nadal is going to win this in straight sets. I heard he has only lost 4 sets in the last 4 years at RG, and 3 of them were to Soderling last year in the same match.
Unreal. Best clay court player of all time.

No surprise. Rafael takes the title and the #1 ranking.
Even though Roger is the defending Wimbledon champion, Nadal will be the favourite to win it this year.

VAMOS RAFA!!!
What a recovery from the past year of dealing with his knees and his parents divorcing. Not only did he return to win the French Open, he regains number 1 ranking and becomes the first to qualify for the end of the year ATP World Tour Finals. Atta boy Rafa, all class and grit!

I'll cheer for Nadal when Federer retires. Until then, I want to see Federer smash records.

And yet, I hate the Lakers and the Yankees (I don't even care about baseball, and I'm sick of the Yankees). But Federer doesn't have a bunch of annoying fans wearing his merchandise all over and there's something to be said for watching a guy who's the best ever and a rather classy guy.

I always find that curious. We cheer for big names in individual sports (Federer, Tiger) but hate big names in team sports.

Pretty impressive showing by Nadal. Five French Open titles and he just celebrated his 24th birthday on Thursday.
